Nope. just a lotta tape for added friction :I

Still, keep in mind that a lot of MOCers won't be too happy about that. I however am all for certain kinds of alterations, if they look decently professional that is.

Might I suggest utilizing fine or medium grit sanding paper for the inner grooves of the socket joints, but not the ball joints? Just give a little bit of rubbing and check till desired friction level is found. If you want to go a step further, then before you do an sanding: put several thin layers of clear laquer or clear glossy oil based polyurethane on the ball joint, because as you put more layers on said piece will increase in mass, but not noticeably so if done right.

Dude, it's JUST tape covered joints.

But, won't sanding create a larger area between joints, thus decreasing friction?

Only if you do it too much. You only need rough up the surface a tiny bit. A person I know did it and though it didn't do much it helped. However, like I said adding layers of laquer or polyurethane first will increase the balljoint's size enough to make an extremely snug fit when done correctly.Β
