Folks, the end is nigh!!!
The Wiz and GoldenBoy are finally in da house!

With the Wizard Llama I thought it would be fun to add a little popular culture, so I decided to go for a Dumbledorian Gandalf hybrid: his look is mostly inspired by Dumbledore but I wanted the headgear to have a bit of a Gandalf vibe. I was so happy colouring this fellow because he's wearing my favourite colour: Purple!
I thought I was so clever hiding that hairy llama face behind the rim of the wizard hat and long beard, therefore skillfully avoiding the tedious work of colouring all that texture later on......Curses!!! Turns out that a beard consists of mainly hair, so yeah, shows you the level of brainpower residing in my head...
Still, I'm very pleased with Dumbllama the Purple - aka Sir Albus Ian McLlamadore * thank you *

And then there's Golden Llama!
Next to colouring him entirely in gold acrylic paint I wanted to make the image visually a little bit more interesting.
Since I used the dapper bow tie on my very first Llama, I thought this was the best opportunity to use that other additional feature: the sunglasses.
Not only does he need these because he's so blindingly shiny in the sunlight, but also because he's one cool dude!
(Or at least that's what he likes us to believe)
The combination of gold and llamas made me think of where they come from: South America, and particularly Peru. When I think of Peru I think of the Inca Empire and from that my mind quickly jumps to Inca style decoration and of course Inca gold!
Behind our Golden boy I added an Inca inspired sundial or halo, which I think makes for an interesting background.

Using art media with a metallic shine can give wonderful results but it's such a pain to scan.
Although I uploaded the scan here of the Wizard and Golden Llama combination, I also took some photos trying to capture that sheen on the illustrations.
It's quite a challenge without the right professional tools but thanks to GIMP (which I barely know how to use ) I managed to create some decent pictures of the original Llama drawings:
