Description So we made that belt from a few weeks ago. It can be purchased here. Β  Sold! You can commission one though. This thing is such a joy. I want to wear it, but it should be in mint condition for whoever buys it. Might make one for myself when there's more purple on hand, since he got a second buckle. I'm echoing the description, since when it sells you won't be able to read it anymore.

By the Pen of Faust did this ever come out well. This is an intricately woven paracord belt themed after the pony princess Twilight Sparkle. I tried to pick a weave with features that suit her, and this one is a clear choice for reasons found in the "stats for eggheads" section.

The buckle was custom made by ReganFlegan (link below), another etsy user. From neck to tail it measures 45". Unwoven, it contains 63' of paracord in 3 pieces attach'd at the buckle by a hitch specially design'd for the occasion. The weave itself is 14 strands, so including a 10% mechanical advantage due to the weave, it holds 8,470 pounds. The buckle itself is not strength rated though, and will break if subject'd to that kind of weight, so don't do that.

Stats for eggheads:
The braiding (14-strand half-square double reverse) compression is 91.8% before the cord settles. That is, each loop was 49" before the weaving. The hitches that attach the lines to the neck are of a right-hand'd chirality since she's a left-brain, and therefor right-dominant kind of person (I know that's a myth, not the point) but the belt itself is left hand'd (tail extends to the left when fasten'd) because horses in real life are predominantly left...hoof'd. The sine waves crest 12 times (a happy accident, but her cutie mark is seven base-12 stars less every other point). Depending on which side of the belt is facing outwards it either has a lenticular or trapezoidal cross section, and when dress'd in a roll'd fashion the cross section is a catenary arch taken out of a square. Because Twilight is a perfectionist and I like doing good work, I stop'd to dress the weave every four passes until it was within my reach, and every seven passes thereafter. Total time from beginning of weaving to end was 21 minutes (7 stars * 3) and if you include the hitches and attaching the clasp at the end the total construction time was 24min (base-12 stars * 2), both of which were happy accidents. The stainless steel clasp at the tail is rated for 220 pounds.

Mask, who came up with the pattern with me:
[This would just be a link to this page, so I cut it]

Price is cost of the buckle + cord at 1$/ft. I have patterns pick'd out for each of the Mane 6 already, even if I don't have the cord to do it (sorry Rarity, used the last of the purple I had on Twi, so you'll have to wait for the next shipment) and would be happy to make one for your OC as well.

Twilight Sparkle belongs to Hasbro, and was created by Lauren Faust. Hail the Fausticorn!

I'll scan something I've drawn eventually. For srs.

One of these exactly or one in general? We've improved the process since then, and are about to take another crack at Twilight here. We also do customs. What do you have in mind?

I think Jim gets his from Supply Captain. That is a canuckton of colours though. How does it feel? We've gotten some Rothco cord that doesn't feel quite like cloth before.

That wasn't the point, I had finally finished my ponysona and wanted to shift my profile pic to that rather than my villain/UNI mascot OC. GO SCARLET KNIGHTS!!

What would a black/orange belt cost roughly, Β 48-52", + buckle?

If you're fine with a plain buckle, a belt that is exactly 52" from neck to tail would be 49$ for a ten-strand and 68$ for a fourteen-strand (as pictured). We might have to order more orange, depending on what colour ratio you want and the exact shade of orange. The buckle shown was made by these people and is 22$ if I recall.

I'd shoot him a message quick. He has the right colour of red for your avatar (assuming that's what you want) but only about 30' or so left.
