i love the silhouette effect to this piece like the character could be anyone whick make the quote by T. S. Elliot even stronger. and the background being a desert is great because one of the most hardest terrains is a desert so it gives the impression of that journey to take being the hardest or most worthwhile. like this journey could lead to the end of your life which isn't important but how you act, what you do , the choices you make to survive this journey are what really matter. giving the meaning of living life to the fullest for any journey made. also about the silhouette effect it also gives off the feeling of a journey in the past like instead of thinking how those journeys in your life ended bad or good you should think of what you did in those journeys that got you there because then youll be seeing the whole story and every chance and choice taken to say "damn right, that was me! i did that!" or even if it was kinda bad you can either say you learned something or " that was hella fun being an absolute idiot!" i don't know somethin like that........wow i got carried away anyways well done

Oh my goodness, thank you so very much for taking the time to share such wonderful thoughts my dear

Reflecting back on this, in a way I always do see myself in some kind of journey, especially with the big transitions, both in location and culture that I've went through in the more recent periods of my life. And the journey is still going strong! I've been learning to enjoy my slices of solitude as well whenever the chance comes up

your welcome!

oh i know, like every moment and choice and just everything is a new journey just waiting to happen; just POP up and say "HEY YOU!". and definately in transitions in life and how you act. and definately always good to look on the positive side of those journeys. to not regret and to atleast keep that glass half way full

Reminds me a bit of H.C Andersen's paper cuttings(is it called that ?) It's really good, it. It's mysterious, with a touch of simplicity
Could you by any chance - when the inspiration hits you of course , do a theme wall paper in red/dark red/cherry red ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ekster In reply to Heartburn-Aching [2006-05-17 08:29:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I think you got that right I can't remember what the exact term is either, either paper cutting or cutouts, but I definitely know what you are referring to

A dark red theme, I like those colors too, so yeah, I'm pretty sure there'll be something with that in the near future

glad to be back on the world wide web! i feel so excluded from the civilized world when i don't have any internet connection, waaahhhh!!! ( well, i digress... i just want to say is that i love this particular piece because it mirrors what i feel at the moment - i long to get out of the house, and go on a relaxing journey with my parents somewhere here in our country, but alas, it's quite stormy here nowadays, so it's impossible... for now! as always, excellent work! more, more, more - please? LOL!

ekster In reply to ladyerudite [2006-05-14 09:48:14 +0000 UTC]

lol... suffering from some internet withdrawal symptoms are ya I know how that feels like. I am not too sure how long I'd survive if I wasn't connected to the net on a normal basis. Although it'd be different if I was on vacation in the middle of the ocean on a beautiful island, but since I'm not, that's rather a moot point hehehe... And thank you so much as always for sharing your wonderful thoughts and for your kind support

This is fantastic! I love how everything's a silhouette, except for the desert of course. That's what makes it stand out in perfection. I love the intricate pattern adorning the hallway openings, and the desert is so comforting...Great job!

The inspiration for this piece came from browsing through some travel photography books. The play of light between the shadows and brightness always intrigued me, so this was the result of it

I think I've been bitten by the b/w / sepia bug lately! It all started when I was messing around with my elementary photography, and somehow the ideas from that kind of slipped into here
