Description This is another Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OC I came up with, Emily Leoheart.

Profile
Japanese Name: エミリー・レオハート
Age: 16
DOB: August 2nd
Nationality: English

Appearance
She is a short (5'3) Caucasian girl with short light brown hair and blue eyes. She has very prominent freckles on her cheeks. She has a birthmark in the shape of a paw print on her left thigh.
She wears a pink jumper with a heart and cat face on it and blue bell bottom jeans with sandals.

Personality
She's a very friendly and upbeat girl who loves to help people where she can. She loves animals, to the point where she's known to get on people's nerves talking about them, ironically she has very little confidence in dealing with animals, but has gained some thanks to her ability. She's incredibly courageous, having what her father calls "a lion's heart" which runs in the family, as such she aspires to protect the innocent and so has enlisted in a police academy. She likes strawberry milkshake and fresh bagels. She has a habit of chewing on things, like her fingers or a pencil.

Stand
Her Stand is Jungle Love (ジャングル・ラブ Janguru Rabu), an ACT Stand that she attained after being bedridden with a flu she contracted after she cut herself on an arrow she pulled out of a dog's paw. It evolves as her spirit grows stronger over the course of her life. It is named after the song by Morris Day and the Time.

Appearance
ACT 1: It resembles a small yellow furred creature with orange spots and stripes and short claws and fangs. It has claws on its paws. It has a tail-like appendage on the back of it's head.
ACT 2: It is a small humanoid with segments resembling yellow armor with orange spots and stripes. It has hands with short claws on the knuckles. It has 2 tail-like tassel on the back of its head.
ACT 3: It is a tall, muscular humanoid with fur and horns resembling armor. It has long retractable claws on its knuckles. It has a thick mane-like ponytail on the back of its head

Ability

ACT 1: It is capable of causing the user and any human it touches understand the vocalizations and emotions of animals as if they are speaking in human language. This can be very disturbing and/or disorienting to those not used to hearing those voices.
ACT 2: It is able to cause any human it touches into thinking and perceiving themselves as a particular species of animal, causing them to behave as such. This can cause them to put themselves into danger, depending on what animal they believe themselves to be, e.g. if they believe they're a bird, they will attempt to leap out of a tall tree to fly.
ACT 3: It is capable of transforming the user and any human it touches into a species of animal. They retain their consciousness in whatever form they take. This can render them helpless or give them abilities they would not normally have, depending on what animal they have been transformed into, e.g. a mouse or a bird. It can transform partial parts of the body into a different animal species equivalent, e.g. hands becoming cat paws.
Misc: All 3 ACTs have sharp claws they can use as weapons. The severity of the cuts caused varies depending on the ACT, ranging from small scratches to evecirations.

Yeah some Stands can do that, but they can go back and forth between the different forms if the user wants.

Wow that's handy.
I've never really seen Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, what exactly are Stands?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-10-17 18:56:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it is.

They're basically visual manifestations/representations of a person/animal's psychic abilities. They were introduced in Part 3, Stardust Crusaders, and were originally described as "powerful visions created by [the user's] life energy", although in later parts they're described as "abilities that embody [the user's] mental/spiritual* energy", and in-universe only Stand users can see them and only other Stands can touch/effect them, unless their the type of Stand who's energy is integrated into a physical object/substance to take form in which case normal people/animals can see them too. Their forms can look like anything but they typically take on a humanoid/creature-like form (usually matching the user's body) and they have a wide variety of abilities and properties (power, speed, active range, potential, etc) depending on the individual Stand which is usually representative of their user's nature and psyche.

*the word in Japanese is "seishin" which can translate as "mind", "spirit" or "psyche".

Oh my X'Hal... It sounds really complicated.
Why did they change it from life energy to mental/spiritual energy?

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-10-17 19:51:29 +0000 UTC]

It can be. There's a bunch of rules to Stands too (one of which I mentioned, the Stands can only be seen by Stand users rule), like if a Stand user can only have one Stand (although some can develop new abilities and change form), if a Stand takes damage then its user is injured in the same way (e.g. if a Stand has its hand chopped off, its user's leg gets chopped off too) and a Stand's power/energy is inversely proportional to its range (e.g. the further away from its user it can move, the weaker/slower it is and visa versa) and in relation to the damage feedback rule, if a Stand user dies then their Stand ceases to exist and visa versa. There's various exceptions to these rules as well depending on individual Stands and how they work.

I think it's because for whatever reason, Hirohiko Araki (the creator of the series) changed his mind about how Stands should work. At the beginning of Part 3, they were strongly implied to be connected to the Ripple (a power from Parts 1 and 2) since a) they were described as life energy which is what the Ripple is (basically the Ripple is the body's life energy that gains different properties due to specialised breathing techniques), b) in order to sustain their Stand the user needs to breathe which is vital for Ripple users to do (no breathing, no Ripple) and c) in the Japanese language version (the original language), the term "Stand" was spelt with kanji (Japanese words) that roughly translate as "Ghostly Ripple". Araki stopped describing Stands like this and instead had them as mental/spiritual energy instead and writing the term "Stand" with the katakana (Japanese letters used for foreign words) "Su-Ta-N-Do".

Probably the same way you remember all that stuff about DC comics and Teen Titans.

Maybe he just wanted to get away from the vampire and Ripple stuff of the previous parts.

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-10-18 01:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Parts 1 through 3 have vampires. The main antagonist of Part 1 and 3, Dio Brando, is a vampire as are several others. They're the result of an artefact known as the "Stone Mask" which when worn by a person and it comes into contact with blood, bone spikes shoot out and dig into their heads to stimulate acupuncture points in their brains that manifest the dormant abilities of humans.

They drink blood to sustain themselves (actually they absorb it through their skin directly into their bloodstream) and can regenerate injuries, as such they have extremely long life spans (basically until they stop sucking blood). They also have superhuman physical abilities (strength, speed, etc) and can manipulate their bodies to do weird Cronenberg-type stuff (make their hair spikes/tentacles, shoot high pressure liquid from their pupils, grow brainwashing flesh buds from their cells, freeze things by evaporating their body moisture, etc etc etc). They don't sparkle in sunlight thankfully, sunlight does indeed burn them up (specifically it's the ultraviolet radiation that does it), and also the Ripple (that's why the heroes had to be Ripple users to fight them at night). There's also zombies which are basically dead people revived by vampire extract that function as basically weaker vampires.

There's also a these 4 guys known as the "Pillar Men" (because they were found by the Nazis embedded in stone pillars) who are the last surviving members of a humanoid race that evolved alongside humans that were physically and mentally superior to humans and had long life spans (they can sleep for thousands of years by turning to stone, a trait shared by the Rock Humans from Part 8) but they were burned by in sunlight. The leader of the Pillar Men, Kars, created the Stone Mask to create a food source (vampires are more rich in calories than humans) and also in his words "conquer the sun" (be able to go out in sunlight without burning up). The Pillar Men also have the same abilities as vampires but on a higher level (they call their body manipulations "Modes" that imitate the properties of light, wind and fire/heat) and instead of drinking blood, they absorb the entire bodies of living creatures into themselves through their skin (their cells release digestive enzymes that consume living things cell-by-cell making it look like their melting into them). Kars also wanted to use an artifact called the Red Stone of Aja (basically a red gemstone that refracts light millions of times within itself to amplify and focus it) to enhance the Stone Mask in order to become the "Ultimate Lifeform", which he achieves, becoming completely immortal and much stronger and smarter and being able to manipulate his body on a genetic level so that he can transform into other animals and plants or obtain their properties.

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-10-18 01:11:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that would explain it.

Joseph Joestar (the Jojo of Part 2) got him to a volcano of the coast of Italy and, using a combination of his wits and dumb luck, got him launched into space by an eruption. Kars tried to get back to Earth but his body started to freeze up and he kept trying to transform into something to help but nothing worked so now he's just floating through space for all eternity and eventually he just stopped thinking all together.

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-10-18 01:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Oh, well the main antagonist of Part 6, a priest called Enrico Pucci who was a stout follower of Dio, enacts a plan by Dio (who is long dead by this point) to "attain Heaven". It's pretty complicated but basically it involves obtaining a Stand that can create a new universe that Pucci can rule over. It works by accelerating the flow of time to the point were the universe ends (due to entropy) and a new universe starts (another big bang occurs) and everything is different and he can influence the new universe to his liking (kinda like that episode of Futurama with the one-way time machine).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-11-02 17:16:42 +0000 UTC]

There's a few, but exactly what they are and what they entail changes quite a bit.

In the artbook/databook JoJo6251 (which only goes up to halfway through Part 4 since it was still going at the time so it's probably outdated), there are 6 main types of Stand; Direct Attack-type (Stands with high power but short range who's abilities involve attacking/affecting the target directly), Remote Control-type (Stands with long ranges but low power that the user controls at a distance), Materialisation-type (Stands that are integrated into a certain object/substance to take form), Mental Attack-type (Stands who's abilities effect the target's mind/psyche), Future Prediction-type (pretty self-explanatory) and Enemy Search/Exploration-type (Stands who's abilities involve sensing/locating the target and/or gathering information). Some Stands have abilities that correspond to more than one type like Hierophant Green (a Remote Control-type Stand that can sense real enemies from fakes with its tentacles).

In later parts, more types were established such as Long Range Automatic-type/Automatic Tracking-type (Stands who's abilities involve effecting a specific target without the user's direct control), Colony-type (Stands who's form has multiple bodies like a swarm), Phenomenon-type (Stands that don't have a form and are just it's ability taking effect), and also some previous types have been renamed (Direct Attack-type is called Close Range Power-type). Again, Stands can have abilities/traits that correspond to multiple types (a bit like Pokemon really).

Wow!

What kind of abilities/powers do Stands have?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-11-02 17:41:33 +0000 UTC]

All sorts really. In Part 3, they were pretty straight forward (fire/water/ice/gas/mineral/etc manipulation, mind reading, clairvoyance, predicting the future, spirit photography, stopping time, shape-shifting, etc) and some of them were like concepts from horror movies/stories (a ghost ship, an evil animate doll, possession, controlling zombies, an evil shape-shifting car, a fishman creature, a parasitic growth, getting your soul stolen, etc). Also, since they're visions of energy, some had abilities that directly correlated their form (Hierophant Green can unravel its body into string-like tentacles to manipulate things and form its energy into gemstones to use as projectiles; Silver Chariot has a sword that it can use extremely well and shoot as a projectile and armour that it could remove to increase its speed to make afterimages; Emperor takes the form of a handgun that fires bullets that its user can control the trajectory of; Ratt takes the form of a turret that fires poison darts that melt flesh; Aerosmith is a small fighter plane that can shoot bullets, drop bombs and sense carbon dioxide that its user views on a little radar screen; etc etc).

In Part 4 onward, they start to get a lot weirder and there are rules that are specific to individual Stands. (turning people/creatures into books/bombs/paper/dinosaurs/etc, a cat that resurrects as a flower that manipulates air, creating sounds by writing sfx words on things, turning inanimate objects into animals/plants that transfer damage back to their assailant, putting zippers on things that make a space inside or disassemble said thing, extracting peoples minds/memories in the form of discs, rapidly ageing people but only if they're warm, growing mold on things people but only if they're at a lower altitude than you, putting stickers on things that makes it duplicate and violently fuse back together when you peel it off, unravelling your own body into string, trapping people within the confines of a photographed area, etc etc etc).

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-11-02 18:52:14 +0000 UTC]

Yep, you could say its bizarre.

Yeah it is. Araki names a lot of things in the series (characters, locations, Stands, etc) after musicians/songs/bands/albums. (Dio Brando, Robert E.O. Speedwagon, Dire and Straizo, Oingo and Boingo, the Zeppeli family, Steely Dan, Enya Geil, Midler, Mariah, Alessi, Iggy, Mohammed Avdoul, N'Doul, Jean Pierre Polnareff, Petshop, Vanilla Ice, Eisidisi, Kars, Wamuu, Mannish Boy, Rubber Soul, etc).

In Part 3, Stands were originally named after the Major Arcana of Tarot cards (Star Platinum, Hermit Purple, Magician's Red, Hierphant Green, Silver Chariot, The Fool, The World, Tower of Grey, Emperor, Yellow Temperance, Death 13, Wheel of Fortune, Strength, Ebony Devil, High Priestess, Justice, Judgement, Hanged Man, Dark Blue Moon, Sun and Lovers) and later on they're named after the originators of the Tarot, the 9 Egyptian Glory Gods (Geb, Anubis, Sethan, Bastet, Khnum, Thoth, Osiris, Horus and Atum) and their abilities/traits or the circumstances of their appearance in the story represented the symbolism of the Tarot card/Egyptian God they were named after (Tower of Grey is named after "The Tower" which represents disaster during a journey and it was used to prevent the heroes from journeying straight to Egypt). However there are 2 Stands that are just named after music like other things (Cream and Tenore Sax).

From Part 4 onward, Araki just started naming Stands that are named after bands/songs/albums (Crazy Diamond (as in Shine On You Crazy Diamond), Echoes, The Hand (The Band), Heaven's Door, Highway Star, Killer Queen/Killer Queen Bites The Dust and Sheer Heart Attack, Atom Heart Father (as in Atom Heart Mother), Gold Experience, of course Aerosmith, Moody Blues, Sticky Fingers, Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath, King Crimson, Spice Girl, Purple Haze, Stone Free, Kiss, Foo Fighters, White Snake, White Album, C-MOON, Made In Heaven, etc etc etc).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

El-Drago-800 In reply to Tylandr [2019-11-02 19:26:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah he does. Too bad the official English versions have to change some of the names around for copyright reasons (Crazy Diamond is called Shining Diamond, Killer Queen is called Deadly Queen, Echoes is called Reverb, Oingo and Boingo are called Zenyatta and Monyatta, Steely Dan is called Dan of Steel, Midler is called Rose, Kiss is called Smack, Sticky Fingers is called Zipper Man, Aerosmith is called Lil Bomber, etc etc etc).

The manga is currently up to 8 parts (7 of which are finished and the 8th is ongoing), in order they are called Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, Golden Wind, Stone Ocean, Steel Ball Run and JoJolion. SBR onward is set in a new universe. The anime adaptation has done up to GW as of now.

I'm looking for a design based off the tarot card, The Lovers. Particularly, the angel featured on it.
www.tarotcardmeanings.net/imag…
There's a couple of color variations, it seems, on the angel, but this one looks like the original.

His power is merging other stands (voluntary stands only at first), so I was thinking that maybe his wings should look... veiny? The best way I can describe the image in my head is oversized veins, no feathers or bone, just red and vein-like.
