Description Jeanne from Gunnerkrigg Court by

The flowers are marigolds.

As for the writing, it is the whole of a Latin quotation found in part on the walls of the Court.

Very nice! I like the expression on Jeanne's face, but my favorite part is the background frame with its Latin and marigolds.

That's truly lovely, and the words are a punch in the gut, considering the backstory. The contrast between Jeanne and the background feels very fitting.

Thank you. The words seemed appropriate in a horrific sort of way, and I find it interesting that marigolds (such bright, cheerful things) apparently signify pain and grief in the language of flowers.
