Description 40 x 30 in. Oil on Canvas

This one is a few years old. It's a painting I had wanted to do for a long time, and it was a long time in the making. It's from Tolkien's Return of the King, when Eowyn faces the Witch King. The painting is rather large, but the detail is what took me the longest. On the actual painting, you can see the embroidery on Theoden's garments, the chain links in Eowyn's armor, and every blade of grass.

I still have this hanging in my room. I might be persuaded to sell the original.

Very amazing!

I like how we can't really see the Witchking. That makes him more mysterious.

I spent the longest time looking at this painting. Its amazing. Its like something dark and strange had come into this place of peace and white light and tore and ravenged all that was whole. And then the last bit of strength and light is standing there alone on this hill of broken people, facing the darkness with the bloodied blade and tiny sheild. You feel the light waiting ready to die, ready to fight to regain itself.

THis is a perfect piece.

"No living man am I! You look upon a woman."

the detail is amazing, but what I love most is the contrast of the Witch King against the white mountains and lighter tones...
yup, I'm definitely in awe of your work. ^^

This is so stunning!
the dreary colors actually contrast against the great dark mass of the witch king.
and the way the light shines on certain spots and emphasizes adds an impressive effect.

Thank you! If you're interested, the original framed canvas is still for sale. The price is negotiable.

DON'T SELL THE ORIGINAL. Instead, work on it a little more if you can. I'dd add more fallen horses and Rohirrim...

In the book, it says "And there stood Meriadoc the hobbit in the midst of the slain..."

But this is truly an amazing work, I wouldn't have done better! I'd write a whole book about your painting

If I were Merry, I wouldn't have been standing when that thing came swooping towards me. *shrug*
It took long enough to paint the few bodies and soldiers that I did. So I just suggested more in the background. It's difficult to tell in this version.

I'm not super attached to this. And I don't know of a place that makes canvas prints. But even if I did, it'd be expensive to do since no one is really lining up to buy this. So if anyone offered me enough, I'd sell the original.
