Such a ghastly figure, he is~ Your doing a wonderful job from what I see so far, but improvement comes with the territory, mhm. I'm not sure what advice I could give you since you are better of than me (haha), but what exactly where you having difficulty with in the piece?

I think I know what you mean. I have a couple drawing were I need to work on texturing armour so I found a tutorial on it here. If you would like, I could link it for you. The only thing missing is reflection and bit more lighting. Not unless it's iron armour, then it would be fine for the best part~
If you wanted to do more with the background, maybe, but it works wonderfully on its on and with the armoured knight. Perhaps just a bit more detail would settle?
As working toward a goal, your doing amazingly, so this is a great piece of artwork even if not where you want to be yet. I can easily see you getting the hang of it soon as you keep practicing! ^_^
