Ichimame on her last day as a maiko. This painting is inspired by a lovely photo [link]

It's a common knowledge that I'm terrible at painting people and especially faces I don't know what was more difficult in the painting- her face which I didn't want to make "flat" because of her lovely white make-up or her hair where I had to be really careful not to make everything black (or actually brown as at the begining I used this colour with intention to put black over it afterwards, but I resigned from this idea as brown turned almost black while I was putting more and more paint... ). So even all of those oppositions I was able to finish it in almost four hours.

I'm really glad how it turned out- even the scan looks good.
