Description based loosely on my own sword. My sword doesn't have fancy quillions (hand-guard).
The main knotwork pattern is unicursal.

Oh, this is beautiful! I'm amazed at how realistic it looks (I had to look at the category to be sure)...

Are you able to distribute this sword model? If so, will you be offering it up as a resource, available for downloads and use in our own renders?

Could do, but you would only be able to use it it in Blender.
Aside from the knotwork etching and a slight reflection i added the rest of the textures are generated procedurally by some algorithms in Blender.

oh so you can't make it a .obj so that it can be used in Poser or 3D Studio Max. That's a bummer.

I can export it, but it wont appear as it does here. You'll lose the leather and metal effects and only be left with solid colours. The knotwork will remain though. You would have to mess around with your own effects on it.

Very cool. Well rendered and just a great picture and subject.

I could see the etching adding to any sword.

Thanks.
My actual sword is no longer flawless. It has countless nicks and scratches along the blade from the equally countless battles it's seen over the past years. There is also a deep gouge in the pommel, god knows how that got there.

At least they are honorable battle scars!

Some people suggested I should have knotwork etched onto my own sword.
