Next month is the 50th anniversary of T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1 from Tower Comics. With artwork from Wally Wood, Reed Crandall, Gil Kane, Mike Sekowsky, and writing by Len Brown, Larry Ivie and others. The comic offered not only fan favorite artists, original characters, but humor and a willingness to do the unexpected.

Tower mishandled the copyrighting of the material leading to substantial confusion and controversy over ownership and publishing rights. Since the ending of the original series, several companies have published relatively short runs of the the title, and trademarked and copyrighted their work. These include JC, Deluxe, DC, IDW, Solson, L. Miller & Son, Ltd. and Texas Comics.

This homage uses the original Tower Comics logo and character designs as it celebrates that original Wally Wood driven series that thrilled me so when I first discovered it a half century ago at the General Store a mile from my house. I gleeful shelled out 25¢ for each issue at a time when 10¢ was the norm.
