Description A new D&D character I'm playing, she's a wizard right now, though this picture is assuming she's got some kick ass prestige classes on her, since normal wizards are boring. About as original as her name.

I think the background might be too clashy with the character, what do you think?

Pretty kick ass character. She looks like she could do some serious damage.

I think the bg goes with the character well enough. It does seem a little out of place and I think it's because it's so fluid and smooth as opposed to the visible brush strokes of the character.

Her eye might look weird because of the direction of the eyeliner. The eyeliner looks like it's extended across from the bottom lid. If you schooch it up a little so that it's extended from the upper lid instead it might help. That's just a guess though. No promises.

But it looks awesome.

Thanks for the critique.

Yeah, the background was done with the pen tool and some filters, was the only way I knew of for magical effects. I'm not sure what you mean about the eyeliner though.

You're very welcome.

I'll try to explain the eyeliner thing better. I've played around with make-up a lot. Usually the eyeliner extends from the top eyelid. The extension of the eyeliner from the eye can change the perceived shape of the eye. If it extends downward, it can make the eyes look droopy. Having it extend upward slightly can make the eyes look more open. But by having it extend from the bottom eyelid it makes it look weird. That could explain the eye weirdness. But it might not. It's just a guess.

Sorry if it doesn't help. I know what I'm trying to say so it makes sense in my head. But that doesn't mean much.

Ok, I do see what you mean now. I'm a fan of makeup myself, but I never really thought about that. It does help.

Very natural pose of the figure and excellent proportions. Your shading is VERY well done and I think that is my favourite aspect of this work. Especially on her shoulder right next to her neck and in the drapery of her dress. I can count at least 8 different shades of grey in her clothing, and that kind of detail is nice to see. Sexy. Strong. Natural. Eyes a little odd, but i'm very happy with the figure. Now for the background...What kind of environments would you find your character in? City? Dungeon? Forest? Pick one of these and think of a color that best represents it. Make a subtle background from mainly that color and add a few elements from your environment (like leaves if shes in the forest or buildings if shes in the city) making sure to keep it simple and out of the way so your character can shine through! Very nice work!

Ah thanks for the critique! That's a great idea about the background, I should think subtlety more often.

Dark colour instead of black? Also, I'm not a fan of polishing, but thanks.
