Description Well, I had this done like a week ago, but I wanted to add some colour to the trees. Frequent exams, unfortunately, have prevented my from doing anything artistic lately. So I'm just going to submit as is. Done in Photoshop with mouse. Any critique is greatly appreciated.

The tree looks a little flat, if you know what I mean. Perhaps rounding it out more, shading it, would help make it more 3-D? The shading done in the sky also could be blended better.

The shading on the mountain, however, is just wicked amazing. I would die to be able to shade like that.

Thanks, it seems that people either love the tree or hate it. Glad you like the mountain, I love mountains.

This is very pretty. It reminds me of one of those Asian paintings. The painterly texture of the mountain and foreground look wonderful here, and remind me of traditional painting techniques. As with your other piece, the mottled appearance of the ground is very realistic, and on both the mountain and ground adds a ton of depth.

One of the above commenters mentioned that they would like to see more detail in the foreground trees. I disagree; the trees are actually very effective as stark black silhouettes against the blurred, distant mountain. I think texturing them in the same manner as the rest of the piece would detract from the effect, making the branches more distracting than dramatic.

Great job on those branches! The shapes are intricate and irregular but also very natural. The silhouettes are highly believable and truly look like real branches because of the way you've drawn them.

You cut the piece almost perfectly in half with the placement of the mountain. Normally I wouldn't recommend this, since a perfect 50/50 ratio of sky to ground is much too artificial in appearance and focuses the eye on the line between rather than either of the elements. But the branches really save you here, breaking up that line and causing the eye to wander around the piece rather than sticking on the division between sky and mountain. It was also a great touch to make the slope of the mountain irregular rather than a perfect triangle.

Awesome work on this. The only thing I would suggest to make this better would be to edit out the small areas of darker blue along the very edges on the left side and top, near the top-left corner. There are two bits of darker blue there on the edges, and remind me of the scanner shadow sometimes seen in traditional artwork. It's nothing major, but is a wee bit distracting. I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.

Your comments have seriously made my day. Thank you so much for everything you said. I can't even do anything this simple anymore, I obsess far too much about what I'm painting.

As for the dark areas, I don't know what caused them because they're way out of the colour range I was using. They annoy me too, but this is too old for me to change, I'd probably screw it up.

You got shadowing skills hun! I like this, and to me, the darkness of the trees give it that eerie feeling,

Beautiful texture in the mountain and the rocks, also the sky!
The only crit I could give is you I would love to see the same amount of detail and texture in the tree.

Thanks! I agree about the tree too, and I might still go back and do it. Though I also want to start something new.
