The first character on the Hyper Smash Brothers Superstar Fray, unsurprisingly, is Mr. Nintendo himself, Mario Mario. First appearing in the Donkey Kong arcade in 1980, we all know him as Nintendo's top mascot and the mascot of the Super Mario franchise. Known for wearing his overalls and shirt, which is his Type 1 and signature attire, he gets to wear his Sunshine outfit for his Type 2 attire, containing eight colors like his other attire. He barely plays differently from Smash Ultimate, except his Mario Tornado becomes his added dash special, retaining his old down-air move that last appeared in Smash Melee. As you expect, his base attributes suggests Jack-Of-All-Stats, as his attributes range between the middle rates. Though you would think he would be all 7s right? Wrong! There is one character in particular that fits better than the poster boy himself. That said, while he's at his weakest in Recovery and Traction, it compensates to be at his strongest in Firepower (quality and versatility of utility) and Roughneck (damage potential).

Victory Theme: Based on the Level Clear fanfare after either Mario brother climbs the flagpole in Super Mario Bros. This remix is from Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4.
