So generally I mark how long I haven't been paying attention to dA by the number of Pucks that have piled up in my inbox. But please stop throwing it in my face by having holiday-themed strips. It's really been since Halloween? Jeezus.

I know. What the fuck is that? I really could use something of a break. Anyway, still happy Puck is being produced regularly. You, sir, are a man with a work ethic and a backbone.

When you see someone with a work ethic, you see someone struggling for meaning and looking for something to occupy his time.

True enough. The fundamental nature of our existence, I suppose.

Oh the conflict! My sensitive, new-age guy (SNAG) side desperately wants to side with Daphne, telling her she is correct and has every right to be angry, but 50,000 years of male evolution forces me to succumb to my true nature and high-five Ty. Went to a showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Mayfair this weekend (yes I threw toast and toilet paper!) with the wife and friends and, well, it was a blast, and proof of Ty's thesis.

Suddenly I am reminded of Who Framed Roger Rabbit where Betty Boop is serving drink's says her catch phrase and the detective says "She still got it" That charm will never go away. Very funny strip!! Yes Halloween is my god as well, for the most obvious reason and....CANDY!!

Betty Boop has got it forever. But really, candy is an even better god to worship.

I remember the time I was working a halloween coustume party and a 19 year old walked right past the alcohol gatekeepers by wearing a cannoncal "Vampirrilla" coustume, and only held up by spirit gum
oh back after two weeks of vacation, and almost ready to write and submmit to harsh critique my Mo'rrigan/Macha original super hero story. (about a teen discovering that she is now the Maiden third of the Morrigan.

19 year-olds, I assume, cannot drink where you are? Just asking because 19 is the legal drinking age here. But hey, Vampirella deserves a drink no matter what the age, I'd say.

California where the drinking age is 21, yeah I know no sense of fun, this state...

ElectricGecko In reply to ColdDayinHades [2012-10-26 16:50:12 +0000 UTC]
21 is a stupid drinking age. Just saying. You're well into adulthood and you can't drink? Dumb. The only time I've ever been served an 'illegal' beer was in NYC when I was in a bar (age 20) with a friend in his forties, and I ordered a beer. They gave me one. It was only afterwards that I realized this was illegal, because I'd been of legal drinking age for almost two years back in Canada.

Phoebe knows how to play to her strengths. Mind you, while drawing the outfit, I was struck by the physics-defying nature of its design. The only way it would actually stay in place would be ... glue. That's the only explanation.

It HAD to be Betty Boop, hadn't it? Last year I actually had a look at some of those vintage cartoons. Weird but entertaining! Old animations really are fascinating however.

It didn't HAVE to be Betty Boop. But it was. And the Boop was good. I personally love old Fleischer animation. It's some of the weirdest, trippiest stuff ever put to film.

ElectricGecko In reply to JulianDeLio [2012-10-23 17:07:08 +0000 UTC]
Ah, but Halloween's 'departure from the every day' allows for an increased level of abandon. You're not being skanky; you're acting skanky in a skanky role, and that's entirely appropriate for all audiences. They think they're getting away with something. But everyone knows the truth of the matter: they're being skanky.

JulianDeLio In reply to ElectricGecko [2012-10-26 09:26:48 +0000 UTC]
Eloquently put sir. I would be inclined to say that most dress up occasions bring this opportunity for that sense of 'abandonment'.
