Description This is an old piece now, from last summer, but I couldn't put it up on-line till just now. So here it is. I'm still in love with this piece, it's going to be the cover for the next issue of Mallorn, the Journal of the Tolkien Society.

It's big, A2 size, pencil and watercolour.

Featured your beautiful drawing here: RiseThis feature of wonderful art by your fellow Deviant Artists is named after the incredible vocal performance at the end.  I hope you listen--it'll lift your whole day!
As I do each time I try to feature mostly works which have fewer than 200 or better yet under 100 faves, so please check out the galleries of these wonderful artists as well.    Rather than write something about the late spring snow in Santa Fe now, I'll just post the lyrics next to the video and go out and enjoy the beautiful weather!  Have a blessed day, thank you so much for being here and for your support, Christian and otherwise!  With all my always, Debra
      Have a blessed week! -Debra

This image can be a sketch for a stained-glass window or tapestry.

I was just looking another piece of yours called "The Light of Silmarils." How do you compare one to the other? I like the one you posted earlier because the fiery color is overwhelming, as I imagine the jewels would be.

The earliest one was a first attempt at doing something like this. This one was a very deliberate design for a magazine cover, so there's a lot more "space" and less Silmarils.

I hope my earlier comment didn't give the impression that I only liked the other version! Here, the Silmarils look wonderfully crystalline. And even though you left space for other text or images, I can't imagine covering the white lattice-work either.

no, not at all! I just hadn't ever actually sat down and thought about the similarities and differences between the two Silmaril pics, it was interesting to compare them now I can look at them both objectively. When I get a pic of the cover of Mallorn with the big Sil pic on, I'll post a pic up in here

Very nice! and nice to see someone from my own neck of the woods (I'm from east kent). The design looks a little Moorish? It also reminds me a bit of M C Escher's periodic space division. Great colours too.

I was looking for the most appropriate superlative to express my feelings about your work but it's beyond words. It's just magic and I'm stunned by the beauty of it.

This is a very striking piece. I am trying to imagine the glass worker trying to turn this into a stained glass window panel (It is NOT a pretty picture). The design is wonderful and the execution is certainly up to your usual high standards.

This is fabulous. The pattern reminds me of something I had in a book of patterns meant to be coloured when I was younger but this is far more beautiful than anything I ever attempted to colour in that book. XD This is beautiful, like stained glass.

This is beautiful, I've never been able to figure out that particular pattern. I get lost in it too easily
