Description I've had way too much fun with this over the past month and a half or so. Everything seen, except for the woods and the dress form itself, was made specifically for this project- costume, jewelry, and all.

For detailed photos and descriptions of each piece individually, please look here [link] .

That's pretty but my question is who took her head

This is beautiful. I can see where the Green fabric would be a little hard to work with, though. It looks like it would be kinda hard to sew. I especially love the silk-like fabric that peeks from beneath the sleeves and the bottom of the dress. I think the little bits of jewelry you added really pulled it all together. Morgan Le Fay would love to wear this

Thank you! It practically stands up on its own! The fabric in the under gown is actually just cotton muslin that was dyed a bright gold, then dyed pink, so it looks like a much nicer fabric than it really is.

Beautiful! The craftsmanship is amazing! I love how you took all that time to really research it and make sure it was as accurate as it can be. ^_^

Thank you!

For the record, I did end up taking a few liberties with the design, but always prefer to know where I should be starting from on things like this.

You have to find a good starting point or you're pretty much lost. It is fun to tweak things too.

Wow, thanks!

The dress itself really wasn't that difficult to make- I can send you general instructions, if you'd like, that shouldn't quite take that much out of you.

Wow, you must have put a lot of work into it, especially the handmade necklaces & the girdle. Looks fantastic!!

Thanks! I'm not sure I want to think about how long it took, all told. I tend to be constantly fiddling with things, though, so it was a fun project.

I'd love to learn how to create such nice clothes
unfortunately I have no time

I haven't had the time to take on a project like this for a few years, but just learning doesn't take that much time if you start small.

It looks very much better in the real light A really nice dress. Is it all sewn by hand or just the collar where it is visible?

ElegantlyEccentric In reply to Celefindel [2009-02-27 17:00:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! That's my opinion, too.

Just where it's visible. I'm one of those people.

I did hand stitch entire garments when I was a teenager with nothing better to do (and well before I got Oscar), but, with a good sewing machine, you save a LOT of time.

Oh yes, I do hand stiching sometimes on smaller things, fe. my Renaissance corsage, but I usually have no pacience. I first got my sewing machine but historical dresses or something with the same point of view cry for hand stiches. But I rather choose them to make invisible stiches than visible ones.

ElegantlyEccentric In reply to Celefindel [2009-02-28 23:58:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it is really nice to do historical pieces with all hand stitching... but I haven't had the patience, either. Also, on this one, the green fabric is really hard to stitch, so I let the machine take care of most of it.

He he... the visible stitches are a result of my disagreement with the collar, as it didn't want to cooperate and stay flat... *hides*. A few whip stitches accomplish what no amount of ironing can dream of.
