this is a painting for , in exchange for a gorgeous necklace she designed for me. her jewelry and textile works are really very beautiful, and I reccomend her gallery.
this drawing was inspired by the windyness of today, one of the first days this year that wasn't grey and wintery... i painted most of it in the hospital while being with one of my relatives, though, so unfortunately the drabness of that environment had an effect on the painting as well. it was intended to be more pink and black and happy, but instead she's subdued by winter's clinging sadness.

Yeesh, how did I miss commenting on this? As gorgeous as it is here, there's so many little details you pick up on in real life - love the little bits of sparkly metallic silver in particular.
I'm still searching for a worthy frame, and dreading the concept of putting one together myself...
