Naners, Squeakers and Cuddles (left to right). I loved working on all three, because I never painted blue calico, blue tabby and red tabby cats before!
Considering the quality of the reference photos I had to work from I'm rather pleased with the outcome. I usually will work from bad photos (because sometimes it's just impossible to get good ones and it would be too sad to deny the owners a portrait because of it), but it can be very frustrating and the results tend to be not mindblowing. If you ever think about getting a painting of your pet, please try to collect as many good quality photos as possible. You're doing yourself and the artist a big favour with that!

Outstanding! I never would have guessed that these were from poor photos.
I have experienced the frustration of trying to paint a portrait from a low quality photo given to me by a client. The hardest one was having to paint from a snapshot taken of an image on a computer screen. Because of the lines across the image and missing detail I had to go with a different style for the portrait.
Wow, I just realized this is a digital painting. I would have guessed traditional.
