Description forever and a day, where time fades away...

Freycinet National Park, Tasmania, Australia

I chose this title because of the effect of the long exposure - it captures the movement of the water on the rocks, eroding them away, an ongoing process that spans endless centuries. A few seconds of this vast expanse of time is captured here in this photograph.

This photo was taken from the beach adjacent to the lodge, looking out over Coles Bay. It was windy as hell at the time I shot this, which in turn created larger than normal waves. This meant greater movement in the water and splash on the rock, which you can see as the white fluffy stuff on the rocks and texture in the water. I shot alot of exposures, timing them as the waves came in, and I personally think this was the best. I stacked as many things onto my lens as possible to get a long exposure as it was still relatively bright when I was shooting - this included a polariser and a coloured sunset filter (which explains the purple of the clouds).

This exposure here was an 8 second one.

Beautiful. I love the misty feel the water has in this, I think that's probably my favourite aspect of the image.

Nice job.

Beautiful shot, love the elements in the forground, the water is smooth and perfect. Nicely done, my only nit is the blowout in the sky, either by processing to much, or you should have dropped the exposure by a sec or 2. Just no detail in that portion, and its leads the eye right to it. Nicely done.

Nice alien landscape! I'm looking into slow exposures too. I have a Neutral Density filter which is good for a couple of stops. I'm looking out for moving things loke wind generators, smoke and the like. I'm inspired by the work of Michael Kenna [link] at the moment...take a look.

Thank you very much

I'd love to get a neutral density... much more effective in slow exposures than a polariser. Sounds good paul, looking forward to seeing some of your stuff! Kennas work is brialliant also
