"And that's all she sang?"

Shard always thought Stigr looked fiercer under the whiteness of the swollen moon. "Yes. But I feel there was more."

"You were right." The old exile paced away on the rock, tail lashing. "There is another verse the widow queen wouldn't sing within the red king's hearing. But I think in your heart you know it."

Shard's heart beat like wings against his breast. "What is it?"

Stigr turned and his low voice thrummed through the night on Black Rock Isle, the last verse Ragna had not sung to the pride.

"He is borne along by the Silver Wind
He alone knows the highest peak.
And when they hear his song at battle’s end
The Nameless shall know themselves
And the Voiceless will once again speak.

He comes when he is needed
He comes when he is called
He is called the Summer King, and this is his song."

For a moment all stood silent but for the wash and pull of waves on the rock. Then Shard whispered, "What is the Silver Wind?"
But then they heard a scuffle on stone, and turned to see who approached.
