Description hooo okay so,, I wasn't sure if I was gonna upload this bc it is super experimental and also it's tryout art which I don't upload like ever but,, here we go

so I'm really, really bad at putting characters into worlds in no small part due to the fact that I cannot draw background for the life of me. and also since I absolutely despise working with lighting in, like, the real world,, but I had an idea for this tryout that I just had to follow through with and, hey, never try never learn right?

I was also working with how half-elves look in comparison to my normal elves in this piece. their ears are shorter but still pointed, they don't have the perma-eyeshadow that elves have, and they do retain the tooth gap. I was also playing around with the idea of half-elves having vampire-style fangs? which I did here to not-to-great effect -- I still like the idea but I need a better way to incorporate it. I was also playing around with the general idea of elves having slightly translucent/sparkly skin, which carries over to less intensity in half-elves but you can ~kinda~ see it here with how the sunlight is hitting her.

as for the background,, hhrgg okay so I ~hate~ lining backgrounds to an insane degree and I really love painting them but the issue is that I'm,, really bad at painting,, I put an overlay layer on it (which is really easy to see on the bits that overlap her since I pushed the overlay further forward than the painting bc I wanted to see more of her but still wanted a lot of overlap) to make the colors a little brighter and more dream-like. I like how it looks independent from the lined part of the piece, in fact I like both parts independent from each other, but I feel like they don't blend particularly well.

also, I forgot to add in her shadow which is something I specifically remember thinking I should do,, hhrg I might fix it later but like, it was late when I drew this and I always forget things when it's late ripp (see: my last completed piece where I forgot how many fingers people ~usually~ have)
