Description
This took up most of my Sunday, creating the Card Captor Sakura sword card wand for one of our group of 6 Sakuras.I sculpt all this shit by hand, ya'll.
Please forgive the photo quality, taken with my cell phone since I was working at *xaynie 's apartment. Her boyfriend Greg is kindly modeling the sword for me.
I managed to get everything finished for the basic sword form. I'll wait for the Model Magic to dry before Mod Podging the entire thing, painting it, antiquing the paint job, and installing a resin "gem" on the hilt. ...I am going to hate myself for doing the detailed crosspiece once I start painting.
Materials Used:
- Model magic, a little over half of a large bag.
- 1 Wooden dowel
- Foam sword hilt commandeered from a cheapo foam sword.
- 2 bamboo skewers (to support the wing crosspiece)
- Poster board
- Electrical tape
Ultimately, and I will be creating:
1 sword wand
2 star wands
3 clow wands

omg this is sooo good!! my friend and I are cosplaying as two different sakura's and we were wondering if you would do a comission and how much it would be for a star wand and a clow wand

By hand? Awesome sauce. Admittedly, it probably means you have to be steady about it, but it helps when it comes to precision?
And yes, detailed crosspieces probably do inspire hate in those that attempt to do them, but the results are (hopefully) keeno.

Hmm. Not that I wouldn't be happy to make one on commission, I'm not sure how kid-safe it would be as a prop. I'd want you to see the finished one before-hand.

Well, it's supposed to be the sword card, but if I remember correctly, the same design was used for the play prop. (It'll be going with the Sakura prince outfit.)

Well, looking around cosplay.com, it's one of the more commonly executed outfits of Sakura's.
