Sweep mini marvel #8This Ol Gent is rumoured to be approx 122 years old, still very sprightly for his age he likes to spend his day sweeping happily and lifting his cap to greet those he meets with a smile and wink.

I tried polymer clay, but stuck with fabric. He is sooo cute! I love how you used leaves instead of cicada wings. I have some cicada wings waiting to be used but haven't had the chance!

The wings are skeloton leaves that have been painted, and given a coat of liquid sculpey to preserve them, takes a bit of experimenting with so they do not get over saturated

Thank you very much for the info, it will be useful in making my next model. But I am afraid that one question leads to another. Is liquid sculpey something which I can buy or a concoction I need to somehow make myself? I have never heard of it!

Translucent Liquid sculpey ( TLS) is a 'liquid clay', and can be bought, it is very similar to fimo gel, though less translucent. Both are great products , with lots of uses, if you google them you will get up a lot of info as well as where to buy

I use a jewellers magnifier for fine details, helps stop the eye strain and headaches .

I must admit they are what i like doing best. The hand is doing well, i was able to sculpt this little guy ,but still not alllowed to do any washing up / heavy lifting which suites me fine
