I have not submitted any drawing for quite a long period of time. The reason is I know that I am not very original and my artistic skills are far from satisfying, so bascially what I did for almost a year is to look at other artists' drawings and try to mimic and repeat them in my exercises. Even I really want to post these studies for critique purposes, I am extremely cautious about that since I do not want anyone to say:"You are stealing my drawings!" The more I learn drawing the more I realize not only the image but also the design and ideas are posessions of the original artists and a "study" should not be called an independent art piece since it does not contain original ideas or designs.
Hence, to reply to your critisism I want to say: I did not steal. In a sense this is a truth, because I did not take the image into photoshop, smooth its color and brush over it, as you guessed in your comment. No. I painted the whole image myself. To prove this I will post the line art and layered photoshop file in my scrap section to show it. No, I hate art theft myself and will never do it. But deeply think: Refer to another artist's design and draw an image according to it, does this constitute art theft as well? Strickly speaking, maybe this is very uncool as well... What did not bother me a year ago when I post my first digital drawings and felt happy learning do make me a bit uncomfortable and provokes thinking now, since I have painted much more, read much more, and talked to people in this field much more.
I like your drawings and have learned a lot from your gallery. And I respect you as an artist. So your words eventually confirmed my previous thoughts of art-identity. Usually when I refer to people's drawing, I would mention the name of the author I referred to and provide a link if possible. This is because I hate art thieves myself. I did not do it for this image because I did not know the name of Shirousagi until some people mentioned that in their replies. I only had two of his/her drawings from a manga fan art image collection and I liked them very much. But I did not know who the author is when I did the class project and posted it here for critique. But nevertheless I should credit him/her after I found out the name and I will change the description of the image now to do this.
Yet again, I did not take his/her drawing and brush over/repaint it in some software. You can do an overlay of the two image and compare. I will also post the line art/photoshop file tonight for check purpose, since I respect you as both an artist and a rightous peer who hate dishonest demeanors. So do I. I referred to the design but did not steal the drawing. Yet beause of this, I should not totally take credit for creating this drawing as well. Not trying to justify myself, but do hope the words do everyone justice. Thanks for your patience in reading all these.

I understand what you mean. I think all of us, as beginners will at some point refer to others' art and learn from them. I am wholey for this, and indeed have literally traced or "copied" over others' art many times before when I first started out. The difference is that I did not release those pieces to the public and if I ever did so, I would give credit to he person who I had copied/traced. I understand that you did not Photoshop the image into the piece, I understand also that you are quite a good artist! As I mentioned before I *have* been through your entire gallery, and from what I can see you have a lot of talent (regardless of what you think!)! It just is for the better (both in terms of your own credibility as an artist, and also out of respect for original artists) when you *do* make sure to tell others that you did reference their artwork. I know for certain you are not a thief, as you did mention that the sword design was originally by Wen-M, so the omission of Shirousagi as a reference seemed odd to me. Just the same, as you said, as artists we should all be looking out for stuff like this
You don't need to upload the lineart! I mean unless you want to ! I believe everything you've said, and it was an honest mistake... it was a bad misunderstanding but still I think we've learned a few things from this . I look forward to seeing your work in the future!

Thanks for your trust and even adding me to your friend list... It means a lot to me since I like your art very much and respect you pointing out this to me, preventing me from making this type of mistake again. I have modified the description to credit the original design and drawings, and I will take care of this whenever I submit a painting in any forum or art community. As you said, I have learned a lot from this event. I think it is my own carelessness that has led to the misunderstanding! Hopefully people learn from their mistakes... And next time hopefully I can show more originality in the drawings I submit! If it is a study or exercise, I will make sure to provide a link to the original art that I studied from. Thanks again for your critique and patience, ^___^

It reminds me of Tidus from FFX! I lurves Tidus...
But I think the hand without the glove is a bit wonky...
Hey, I made up a new word! Wonky!
Wonky (adj.) 1. Having the qualities or properties of Willy Wonka.
2. Having the qualities or properties of wierdness.
3. Like Iluvrocket...

Wow... I wqanted to comment on at least on piece in your gallery this evening.... (your talent has left me awestruck.... and speechless, which is a rarity)
This piece is very well done.... The coloring on the jacket and pants is just mind-blowing... very detailed, but not over-textured. Just enough dispertion to create the illusiin of the light playing off of the material, without trying too hard. Your restraint in that aspect shows a real depth to your understanding of life-drawing, I must say.
Your color choices in this piece only serve to underscore the meaning of strength as well!! Tremendous!

I am so flattered~~~ ^_^ I really like to draw swords although my design usually sucks. Wen-M is really good at designing weapons (and everything else, haha). If you have time go check his weapon design! Those are truly amazing...

That looks so cool! I think I've seen that guy or maybe the pose before I dunno @__@
Either way, the colors, the subject, expression and Wen-m's gorgeous sword fit very well. I saw full version and it seems you did first a pencil sketch, then scanned it and colored it then in the comp? Ahhh ~ Me likes
I just think the black borders could use some blur or something, the look kinda pixelated O__<
