Description My costume for Halloween this year. Not the most detailed thing I have ever made, but at least I did not stoop to buying a store-bought one!
I have loved Star Trek my entire life, and had somehow never worn a Star Trek costume, so I figured it was about time.
TNG is actually my favorite series, as I grew up watching it, and Beverly Crusher is my favorite character of all time, but I don't find the TNG jumpsuits all that flattering as far as Halloween costumes go. As a nod to my favorite character, even though it's the wrong uniform, I decided to be a medical officer. : )

I just found this while looking for TOS cosplays. XD We should team up when I have TOS Bones done, yes? :3

How did you figure out the pattern for the dress? Did you modify another pattern?
I am thinking of making a Star Trek dress for this Halloween but not sure how to go about it.

That looks like an awesome guide Mae-chan wrote, and the uniforms look really good on there!
I cheated a little and bought a really big men's long-sleeved t-shirt, then I traced around a shirt that fit me to determine how much of the sides and sleeves to cut off. Then I cut off around what I had traced, leaving a little extra for sewing room, and then sewed it back up. The seams aren't the cleanest things in the world on there, as you can see... >_> For the collar, I took black t-shirt fabric and sewed it around it a double layer, but made it have extra fabric, so that it looked more loose, like their collars do. (If that makes any sense.) The rank braids on the sleeves are just those gold-braided ribbon-like things that you buy by the yard at fabric stores, and the badge is cut out gold fabric with much gold nail-polish and puff-paint and sharpie for the design.
Whew. So it doesn't look near as authentic as it could, but as far as fairly-quick Halloween costumes, it's good, since you mostly just modify a shirt.

I wrote this a while back for the group and maybe it can help you out a bit? [link]

I see that you mention the pattern from the Starfleet Technical Manual in there. I was just thinking how I should scan those sometime, and/or actually make the uniforms from there, so I could have a more realistic costume.

I'll be trying it out myself in a month or so, we'll see how it goes. Didn't know how many people have that... but I have the scans uploaded, in any case. [link]

Ooh, that's awesome that you scanned those! And you will definitely have to post how it goes when you make them. I like that you have the mirror universe outfit picture on there, too; I really want to make a mirror universe costume.

Haha I was like oh no nobody read the mirror verse one! That one kicked my butt trying to write it! XD So yeah I hope it's useful
Of course I'll document my sewing this summer... I've got four outfits to make for the con ^^ I'll be starting before the end of May.

Your article about it makes me want to make the costume even more! Is it the con in Las Vegas? I wish I could goooo.

Aww that's good! Give it a go! Yes, the con is in Vegas from 5-8 August ([link] ). It's TOS/DS9 heavy but there's some TNG/VOY/ENT guests there too. I'm so excited (but I'm technically not confirmed to go since the general admission tickets aren't posted yet...).

Yeah I'm stoked. I really want to get a photo with Bill and Len :3
I think it should be ok- it's still three months off and my parents seem interested in going to Vegas (not for the con, of course), so.
