Your portraits manage to create an atmosphere surrounding the character they depict, while focusing completely on the subject at the same time. It gives life to the picture.

Love the little scratch above her eyebrow, and the high contrast showing it off - gives more of a story and dynamic about the picture than all the other child portraits with the kid just looking at the camera.
Plus, scars are always cool.
