Such a sad scene. It must've been really hard on Thor, watching his brother attempt suicide. Thinking his brother was dead would be hard enough but because he committed suicide (he didn't know he hadn't been successful until Avengers) must've been really painful. It's even more heart-breaking that in Avengers, Loki tells Thor that he wishes he had died. He looks so peaceful, which makes sense since it was a suicide.

I think painting from reference is actually a very good way to learn and improve ones skills! I've just figured this out, and have learned a lot. So don't put yourself down for using them. Great artists in history made even royalty stand still for days on end while painting their portraits.

You're right about painting from reference. I am always learning painting after painting.
What I end up doing is, using the reference for facial expression and the pose, but add other elements myself. I find just copying a photo quite boring, so I change things to make it interesting.
That's why I keep turning photos of Tom Hiddleston into Loki.. I can't help myself..
