Me too, I couldn't wait for inspiration to hit me with this one! Thank you very much, I didn't know if I should detail the background some more, but being that I totally suck at them, I decided to keep it pretty...bland!

Thank you very much! And yes, I'll have to spend some time and come up with my own watermark one day--it will probably be subtler but more effective than the big dA one!

Aw thanks! Yeah, I'm trying to work on lighting and how light/colour reflects off of surfaces!

GREAT! - Light is EVERYTHING ... followed closely by composition. I have spent my entire artistic life trying to learn how "photons" behave in the world around us. It's extraordinary how the use of light can make - or break - anything. Rembrandtβs work first got me into light as a kid (and of course star wars) - he was a freaking genius the way he used it in his art. Check out some of his work ----- amazing for 500 years ago! What I mean is β painting with such masterful use of light in that time period (no photographs β no magazinesβ¦. media of any type β¦.. just shear observation!!!!!! I mean β SHIT!)

You're exactly right--I've tossed so many art endeavours because I could just not get the lighting to work. They say practice makes perfect, but I think observation makes perfect in this case!
Rembrandt is definitely amazing, for all the reasons you just listed. He makes it all look so damn easy, too, damn him! haha but just goes to show that an artist can still be an artist without references, tutorials, models, etc.
