Description Well here's my first (completed) render with the new hair plug in Look at My Hair for Daz Studio. I have to say I love the plug in but I totally hate Daz Studio. Crash crash crash. But anyway, here's FUR!

Daz/LAMH/Reality/Lux Background and some color adjusting in PS.

A lioness laying in the sun in the tall grasses looking off to the side. Maybe she's spotted a zebra getting too close to her napping spot!

Yes, it's so fun! I have been putting fur on all sorts of things, even rock and things for seaweed! Maybe he will make it for Poser at some point, but right now, you can make the hair with Daz and then import it into Poser. Most of the people who use the plug in don't really use Daz ha ha, they render with something else anyway. Still works!

Thanks!

Ah ,ok I think I'll wait and see for now, don't really have any desire to learn yet another program unless I have to.
Is it slow to render? There are a few good "furry" creatures for Poser, but the render times are positively insane and crash prone as an extra bonus Same can be said for Vue.

Elle-Arden In reply to Lynxander [2013-02-28 19:59:16 +0000 UTC]

It does tend to make Daz run really badly and crash on me, but once I get it into Lux it doesn't really render longer than anything else, unless I set it on velvet or matte translucent or something, which would be true of anything! But just set on the matte setting the fur really doesn't take too long to render. I would imagine it would give Poser a problem though like Daz. But a lot of the people who use it render with Vue so I'm sure they would be able to let you know.

Ooh such a pretty girl! Loving the lioness. I orignally had problems with Daz 4 crashing til I updated to the new 4.5; now I don't have that problem anymore. Which one are you running? I definitely need to look into that hair plug-in!

Thanks! 4.5, actually I updated it when I got the plug in thinking that would fix it. It's manageable but I have to be really careful and it still does crash on me sometimes.

That's messed up. I guess I should feel lucky that it hasn't happened to me yet with the update. Either way, Great Image

I think so, though the one that caused me the most crashes hasn't been finished yet. Oh well, I do love the plug in and so I think it will be worth it in the long run!!

Thanks!!

Oh thanks Suzi! I am far from mastering it lol, but it's great to work with and makes very nice fur quickly! Now I just have to get the hang of different thicknesses and material settings to make each type of fur match the actual animal it's supposed to be, but hey I was just happy to get some fur rendered for this one!

Kachinadoll In reply to Elle-Arden [2013-01-14 18:54:26 +0000 UTC]

Your most welcome hon! I think you did great! Now I wish I could use Daz Studio! haha NOT! But it would be nice to have a cool hair plug in for Poser! weeeeee!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elle-Arden In reply to Kachinadoll [2013-01-14 18:58:00 +0000 UTC]

You could just use the plug in and export to .obj and render in Poser. I think I'm going to try that on my next one and see what it looks like rendered in Poser because Lux really takes a long time to deal with all those hairs. Anyway I didn't use DS4 to make my scene ha ha, I used 3 and then just exported the hair object and I just had to scale it down because I used the wrong scale and that's it. I also did export one to Poser just to see how that went and it was perfect, the scale even worked on that one.

Kachinadoll In reply to Elle-Arden [2013-01-14 19:09:28 +0000 UTC]

haha, but then I would have to figure out how to use Daz Studio! hehe I'm totally clueless when it comes to that app! Plus, when I install it, it screws up my computer every time! boo! That's so cool that you can export the .obj file though! Very cool! How did the render turn out in Poser??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Elle-Arden In reply to Kachinadoll [2013-01-14 19:40:09 +0000 UTC]

I didn't render one yet, I just haven't had time but I will try it as soon as I can and let you know! I didn't figure out how to use DS4 either, I'm so bad, I just don't want to mess with it ha ha. I just imported the figure I wanted to fur and opened up the LAMH plug in, did my thing in there and exported and got the heck out of there!

Kachinadoll In reply to Elle-Arden [2013-01-15 16:46:23 +0000 UTC]

haha, your too funny! Would love to see how that hair renders in Poser when you get a chance. Just curious! weeeeee!

FreyrStrongart [2013-01-14 18:09:30 +0000 UTC]

very fluffy . I think the fluffiness would work better with a snowleopard or a sibirian tiger, those lionesses look usually sleeker. But it looks great. Did you do it with renderman or as a hair object?

Furify is a shader, and rather more limited than the hair plugin. It's fine for stuff with fairly short fur, but you cannot change length - or do different directions on one mat zone. For an example of furify look here - [link] . The furry has been done with furify and it was quite difficult, especially around the eyes.

Elle-Arden In reply to FreyrStrongart [2013-01-14 18:49:37 +0000 UTC]

Ok thanks for the info. Yeah, I am working on a Mountain Lion that came out way too fluffy too, I'm still getting the hang of the plug in so I will probably come back at these later and try to make them look more sleek and realistic. Think also she should be a bit clumpier. I will have to try a tiger though.

I exported to .obj and then imported it to Daz3 because that's where my scene was and then rendered in Lux. (Too many steps I know!)I haven't tried it with Renderman yet, though I think you can make the hair thicker if you are going to render that way - I had to make my hair pretty thin to look like hair in Lux.

FreyrStrongart In reply to Elle-Arden [2013-01-14 20:04:22 +0000 UTC]

That's a problem anyway. I have been working on human hair and the preset of 130 is way too thick. I had to go down to 40 to 20 to get an effect that was not too coarse. I really hope he soon develops a collision setting, that will make working with human hair muuuuuch simpler.

Elle-Arden In reply to FreyrStrongart [2013-01-16 18:56:29 +0000 UTC]

That would be great, though I haven't done anything with humans yet, lol, I'm playing with animals and rocks, grass and seaweed.

FreyrStrongart In reply to Elle-Arden [2013-01-16 21:23:37 +0000 UTC]

The plug-in is great for a lot of things. I haven't yet tried the possibility to multiply objects via the guidelines but it sounds interesting.

Elle-Arden In reply to FreyrStrongart [2013-01-17 15:45:30 +0000 UTC]

I know, that is something that will be a lot of fun once I get the hang of it. I quickly made some grass the other day just to see how it would look and it was pretty good with just a few minutes playing around. So I am very happy with the purchase! And I haven't even started playing with it for humans yet lol, but I think it will be really nice for eyebrows, chest hair etc. Not just the head hair.
