shit, looking at your tumblr now. i have an excess of rodent skulls that i collected from owl pellets (there's one living in my grandmother's barn loft) but i'm desperately searching for just any kind of bird skull. perhaps we could arrange a trade sometime? oh, i also have this half eaten mummified squirrel in my front yard and i have no idea what to do with it but it looks so awesome. that sounded a little crazy, but i promise it's cool as hell. i can send a few pics if you wanna see it. it's certainly inspiring..

Hey! Sorry for the late reply.
I would be more than happy to do a trade with you, however, I don't have that many material right now. I have a whole bunch of cool deer vertebraes and ribs, but so far I only got 2 full birds and one pair of seagull wings (see my tumblr post). I'll keep you in mind whenever I get around to another one though for sure!
And of course I want to see your pics. I just scavenged the leftovers of a severely run over squirrel the other day, so I'm clearly not easily shocked or disgusted. You should put up a Tumblr with pictures of your loot, I'd love to see what you have!

This is amazing. I love it. I collect little bugs and locust husks with a few dragonflies (already dead, as I couldn't hurt them). I love this type of find it's truly beautifully done; it looks photo realistic. I know it isn't, but to me it has that feel with the dark and light fleeting in. Beautiful.

Oh! And of course I gather all my creatures when they're already dead, I remember a time when I was younger and I wanted to capture a butterfly; I put it in the freezer but I still feel bad about it now. I will never kill any other creature for the sake of its beauty!

My sister killed a grasshopper to see what it would feel like; she also regrets that action. It's a common childhood thing to do, so don't feel so bad about it. She, like you, never did that again, unless it's a roach then she freaks out, and runs away while spraying it with the entire can of repellent. I certainly didn't mean to imply you had killed the animal either. I read that you'd found it and saved it; I hope you weren't offended. I always look forward to your deviations, I hope to see more soon.

I remember my grandmother gave me a drowned dragonfly when I was a child, and I'm sure it's still somewhere in my mother's basement. I wish I could have more, they're amazing creatures. I plan to make more little crafts like those with insects as well, I would love to see your take on it!
I'm not sure what you mean by photorealistic though, care to explain?

photo realism is a type of painting that looks so real it looks fake. You feel as if you could actually touch the items, but there is something off about it. I'm not really sure how to explain. Sorry.
