Haha, yeah, I changed his name back to what it was ORIGINALLY gonna be.

Anyway, this is for SilverBrumby 's contest! 'Tis my Elquider, Balthasar [BAL-thuh-zar].

I love, love, love him!!! This guy almost gives Crypian a run for his money. .... I said ALMOST. ;]

Breed: Elquider (El-qui-der)

Pelt: Dark Blood Red [all Equiders are some shade of red!]

Sex: Stallion

Age: 136

Symbol: The Tri-Lightning marking - the symbol of the Lightning herd, Levitas

Horns: 1' 5'' kudu horns

Height: 17.8 hh

Beard: Black, begins at chin to mid-belly

Hooves: Cloven

Blood Tribe/Herd: Levitas [meaning: Lightning in Latin]

Current Tribe/Herd: None - Solitary

Mate: Currently, none

Likes: In his post-depressed state, he loved exploring, the smell of trees, thunderstorms/rain/lightning, the night, Caius, and Bryse.

Dislikes: Anyone who crosses his path, Draxon, and humans.

History: Bal was promoted leader of the Levitas herd when his great uncle, Iricus, was killed by the humans while scouting their territories for more mares. Balthasar was only 57 at the time, far younger than any Levitas lead stallion in history. He was schooled well by his uncle while he was alive, knowing that one day his nephew would take over the legendary herd after his death, so the Levitas equiders were in good hands when he finally did become leader. For more than 80 years, they lived peacefully among men, horses, and fellow equider herds... He found a loving mate, Caius, she too, from excellent bloodlines in leadership. His life was pretty much perfect, that is, until Draxon came into the picture.

Draxon was the outcast of his previous herd, and had no where to go. He'd been stalking the Levitas herd for months before he finally requested membership. Balthasar, as expected, wasn't keen on letting a strange stallion join, but after some presuasion and many tests, the stallion was permitted into the herd. He seemed to be helpful, kind, and repsectful... but underneath were his horrid intentions that were hidden by shadows of kindness.

As years passed, Draxon earned higher ranking in Levitas, eventually becoming Balthasar's right-hand-man and best friend. He too found a mate, but one he didn't really love, not like that. And especially not after laying eyes on the beautiful Caius. But after she gave birth to Balthasar's a son, Bryse, Draxon knew his fate was sealed, and he would not receive leadership of the Levitas herd, nor would he have a chance at winning Caius's heart. At this enraging realization, he began to plot for his friend's defeat.

It happened on a regular spring day while they herd was grazing in the vast mountainous lands of the north, although this time they were surprised attacked by a wolf pack looking for an easy meal of the new born foals. Balthasar, being the superb leader he is, called for all the other stallions to attack, acting as a distraction so the mares and their foals could flee. The stallions did as they were told, all except one. Draxon had fled with the rest of the herd, but he wasn't doing it to protect them. Knowing Balthasar wouldn't be back anytime soon, the stallion seized his chance to ruin everything for his friend.

When Balthasar and his soldiers returned, they found that Draxon killed the 23 mares and foals that Made up Levitas. The ground was litterally red, as blood was spewn and crimson-pelted bodies lay sprawled. The dead were collected. The cermonies were performed. But while the other stallions mourned over their lost mates, sons, and daughters, Balthasar was consumed with worry and endless thoughts. The bodies of Cauis and Bryse were not found strewn in the grass like the others'... they were missing... and so was Draxon.

To this day, Balthasar has his many suspicions about his so-called friend and his mate and son's well-being. Only his rage guides him now... his horrid depression, hate, hurt, and pain. He can only hope Caius and Bryse are alive... and that Draxon has enough compassion not to hurt them... and to keep himself alive.... that is, until Balthasar finds him and claims his long overdue life.

I wish I could RP this guy, but only two Equider stallions are allowed 'realms' [SilverBrumy and Thowra's] and Balthasar's definitely not one to be submissive to anyone, especially another stallion, so yeah.
