Gold Fish
Pencil on paper, 18.5x27cm

In an evening, I found two of my gold fish which I'd grown since they were eggs were dead and sank and one was almost dying. Feeling sorry to them, I brought the two bodies to our garden to dry it up so I could draw them later and isolated and gave medicine to the rest to cure its desease. It seemed the surviver came to life again but when I'm back home in next evening, it was dying unfortunately. So I went to the two bodies I had been dried but those were taken by cat even I put them on a pile of wood pieces - which is quite easy to collapse. Cursing the animal I hate so bad -they've eaten our carps and gold fish so many times when we were keeping them in outside, I started to draw the last body which died hours ago. The more I drew it the more it stinked so I felt I could vomit anytime I want when this drawing was close to its finish.

Very detailed drawing, quite excellent. But don't hate the cat, he was only doing what a cat does.

This is going to be one of many faves of your work, and a watch and just oohs and aahs. I totally love this fish. It is so simple, and so detailed. The story of the fish is so sad.

I dreamed about having flying fishes once: my parents told me to cover the tank so they weren't able to escape but it was too late!

Actually one of my goldfish jumped out from a fishtank and killed him/herself

He, he, that reminds me a lot of jokes about suicide fishes but i guess they would be inappropriate here.

have you seen "A Lot Like Love"? This drawing reminded me of a scene in that particular movie. Very well done, and I'm sorry for your loss... stupid cats.

Oh, it wasn't a major scene, just a little story the guy told to a friend. something like this:

A woman saw her neighbour's little son digging a hole in his lawn. She asked why he was digging a hole and he said that his goldfish died. She then asked why he was digging such a big hole. The boy replied "so that it can fit your stupid cat."

Lol, i thought it was funny.

I'm sorry you underwent that in the name of art, but really a fantastic job on all the details of the fish! Beautiful use of graphite to distinguish the positive and negative space, as well as incorporating the textures of the fish... I'd almost be envious, but I know I completely lack the focus, patience, and hand control to even come close. Wonderful Job!
