Wow, that's a 3D model? Pretty amazing ^^
I loved the raptors a ton, seeing one in this level of detail is just fantastic ^^
How long did it take to make?

Thank you for the nice words! Overall a few weeks, I work full-time so I cant commit long stretches of time to a project. But I'm glad that you enjoyed the outcome

So a little bit here and there over the course of a few weeks?
The end result was stunning though, especially those claws and hands! The texture is pretty nice too.
Might I ask what program(s) you used in making this? I don't really believe it makes much of a difference in the long run, but I'm just curious ^^
I've been using Cinema4D for a long time (little periods at a time over a long period of time ><), but haven't had the confidence to model anything organic, which is a true pity because I would have loved to see my War Raptor in full 3D like this ^^
I haven't done much in zBrush either. I don't have a job to use as an excuse for not putting time and effort into learning these... I guess I just procrastinate too much and am far too easily distracted.

Sure no problem, I used Zbrush entirely for the sculpting, painting and render. I then took the render inside of Photoshop and made the composite with the jungle background and painted in the saliva.
In terms of you, I would try setting up goals, do you want to do low poly game assets? Do you want to do high poly beauty sculpts? Once you know this you can decide which package you want to focus on. For low poly stuff I think Cinema4D would be great, I'm sure it can do high poly as well but in the end be more time consuming as opposed to using something like Zbrush where it is very easy to get high poly models.
Once you have that squared away then its just a matter of doing it, make simple sculpts or models everyday. There is going to be a long period of time where everything you make stinks in your eyes, just keep doing it anyways and with each sculpt you will get better I promise.
Its all about goals and working towards them, one step at a time

zBrush was my first guess, but then I thought "Well, there's also Mudbox, and other things..." so ^^
Aaah, that's a problem of mine - I don't know exactly what I want to do. It's gone from low polygon characters to doing environments to doing rigging to this and then that, I'm pulling myself in so many directions and trying to do too many things at once ><
I've only ever been able to do more hardsuface stuff in Cinema sylxeriaguardian.deviantart.co… and nothing real good either. Organic Modeling traditionally I just could never get my head around. Zbrush seems like the best way to go in that regard. I understand there's many ways to accomplish the same thing, but creating creatures in a standard modeling program just is not working for me.
Trying to do a small thing every day should be my goal, yes. I just need to keep at it D:
When it comes to Zbrush learning material, I've got a subscription to Digital Tutors that I've had for a few years, even before I looked into Zbrush, and this fascinating series on sculpting dinosaurs: www.zbrushworkshops.com/course…
I'd say more, but I don't have the time >< Have to run D:
Thanks for taking the time to respond though, it really means a lot ^^

No problem man, I know the feeling. I wanted to be able to do everything all at once and I would get frustrated that I wasn't learning fast enough and felt I will never get a job at this rate and it stresses you out. But I just took a deep breathe and just told myself that its going to take time no matter what.
So I would recommend for you to just really pick up Zbrush for two reasons (and these are just my opinions) I feel like a lot of development houses are embracing Zbrush in their pipeline, also if you learn how to do high polygon models doing lower polycount stuff should be easier instead of going about it the other way around.
Check this group out on Facebook if you have one www.facebook.com/groups/DailyS… its a group I joined and you just sculpt something everyday with a time limit of 45 minutes and they even give you themes everyday! Its gonna be hard the first couple of times, but the more you do it the better you will get, do this and just a bunch of tutorials and you will get there.
Feel free to hit me up anytime you want some help or feedback, and good luck! Just be patient, you'll get there.

Thanks ^^
I already own Zbrush (Bought it a few months ago) but haven't done anything with it yet. I was going over some Introduction videos and the like, introducing the interface and navigation controls... I keep making mistakes, like sometimes forgetting how to move the camera/model in a certain way, or ending up sculpting where I don't want it to sculpt (and in a few cases, it not sculpting at all) but given how many others are using it fluidly, I think it's safe to say "It's not impossible, it just takes getting used to and practice" ^^
Thanks again, and when I get back to practicing and have something to show for it, I will :>
Once again, very good work on the raptor - those claws s/he has are just incredible - and the hands and legs and overall build ^^
Minor question though: What made you pick the red raptor (Bloodfen named in this case, I know that the Durotar raptors are red too) over any other raptor breed?
My personal favorite non-mounted raptors would have to be the Mottled Blue and the Yellow - the orange, green, and red raptors coming closely behind, and perhaps the black/grey one. I've grown sort of fond of the Purple one lately as well. Mounted? My favorites would have to be the Razzashi and War Raptors ^^

Yeah I looked at the other variations of raptors in the game, I especially liked the mounted ones with the armor and saddle. I thought about doing those but the project would have taken me a lot longer to model out the armor and all the accessories. So I just choose the red raptor cause that was the first raptor I saw in the game (was my hunter pet) plus its the raptor that appears in the hearthstone game so I figured people would recognize it more if it were the red one.

I think the first one I saw was a purple or blue one, can't remember. Was years ago after all.
I don't think it would have been needed to model the armor, could have been a wild one or one that had its armor removed so it could relax ^^
But yeah, the red one seems to have been the best known, even before HS.

Those are some good points about the raptors, of course I can just do another raptor model one day, but honestly there are so many cool people and creatures to sculpt from Blizzard games that I probably wont. I have on my list to an Illidan and Archimonde or Kiljaedan sculpt which I think would be cool.

So true, so little time. Btw, I got a chance to see your environment work, I really liked that hallway and door panel you did, you absolutely have some skills in that area. Now if you can learn to sculpt out some creatures you can throw them in an environment as well!
Getting late, gonna hit the hay. I appreciate you commenting on my work and being so friendly, I am sure we will speak again in the near future.
