Description Wow...Thank you so much for the Daily Deviation. I really appreciate it!!

It was impeccable timing as this week the school is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary. There are all sorts of festivities going on including prints on display (some of which are mine) to celebrate the school's milestone in their brand new facilities.

Generally "Urban Exploration" is exploring old/abandoned buildings. And it looks like this one is.

Diamehikoru In reply to Streetster20 [2012-05-07 23:09:57 +0000 UTC]

Okay thanks. I don't like it when artists just put "don't steal" instead of a description. There's not even a "Thanks for the DD there!" >>

EllipticalSpace In reply to Diamehikoru [2012-05-10 01:45:36 +0000 UTC]

To answer your first question, it was under demolition but now it is gone.

As for a description I try to let the work speak for itself.

Streetster20 In reply to Diamehikoru [2012-05-09 13:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah - It's called a 'description' for a reason. But I can see why people don't like to fill it with stuff - it just distracts from the image.
It can still be done informatively and look good though.

But if you want to find something out, hopefully, you'll go research it or at least ask and wait for a reply.

Yeah - I've only heard about it recently.
The photography in these type of abandoned buildings are usually awesome - but creepy. Haha - I'd love to see this one without the lights..

This appears to be a gymnasium floor which from what I have seen is mainly Maple as the wood type, but looking at the bench the grain pattern in itself indicates Oak, but the lighting is low and I would need to see a close up of the grain pattern to determine if it is Red or White Oak.

Does knowing the type of wood add to the picture at all?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Lucky-Woodworker In reply to TEEHEE-1 [2012-05-07 23:17:19 +0000 UTC]

In my opinion the answer to that question would be Yes. Different woods have different colors and patterns which gives unique visual perceptions.
