Description LRC6 Mantis, an MCA designed for long-rage support and firepower supremecy, it is completely and utterly land based, with little to no function in the way of jump jets or boosters without the aid of additional equipment. Equipped at standard with a plasma cannon, 10 longbow missiles, missile counters, gatling emplacements on the arms, and a sniper cannon, bolt action.

A work in progress, but I'm posting it now for the sake of doing it. I like the head here, but I don't have all the mechanisms worked out/drawn yet, so it's still in the design phase. Also going to have to add a second sheet of paper to the bottom, as I'm running out of room for the legs. I hate that!

EDIT: Got most of the torso done, and have designs laid out for the arms and legs, but still need to grab another sheet of paper for the rest of the legs. Changed the number of missiles, added more chaff pods, changed a few other things.

EDIT 2: I got a sub and turned on the Critique, but keep in mind I'm not done yet. (most of the reason I have it on.

EDIT 3: Again, just more progression. Basically just have the legs and right arm to finish. Also have to draw the gun.

Great work, very nice detailed character, nicely balanced too. What's the secret to making something like this? (if there is one)

....It's not a character |:
but thanks anyways. And there's no real trick, you're either good at one thing or you're not, but it might just be a personal viewpoint.

Fair enough, mech/battlesuit with the potential for a character to be onboard? Does that suit you better?

Sniper mechs equal awesome sauce. And just so you know, I haven't forgotten about that cameo. One of your mechs is still slated to kill off a primary cast member.

Just as soon as everyone gets attached to them that is... Which should happen some time after we get the first issue finished.

~GundamMeister mentioned something like that. He had to simplify the look of the Phoenix gundam for the comic itself.

yeah it's nuts, I would not draw this more than once unless I toned down the detail, wouldn't be terribly hard though for this one. Alot of the detail here is just surface fluff.

Wow man, that's amazing. I have never attempted to draw a mech. I'm loving the design so far, the head just keeps making me think of something close to Neon Genesis Evangelion or even the Spartan helmet from Halo. The perspective is fantastic too, with all the wide-spaced pieces being drawn out at an angle that makes sense (I never see this in drawing like this anymore, so this makes me *glee*). I'm totally looking forward to the finished product!

Yeah, drawing mechs is insane sometimes. It takes awhile to really even get a design down without looking at any other mechs, but it can be done! Yeah, I thought the head looked like the EVA helmet from three . the visual sensors are actualy just above the 'jaw' though, I positioned them there because I figured the rest of the head room would be targeting, navigation and quite a lot of other visual-hardware integrations. The perspective is fantastic thought? Wow! I just eyeballed it.

I don't really understand what you're talking about with the angle really, but I'm glad it makes sense. I just tried to position most of the parts so I'd have to deal with the least amount of overlay, really.

But I'm really glad you like it! I think I'll have the linework done around monday/tuesday. Big problem right now is the rest of the legs, I'm not sure how a second peice of paper is going to do with that, but I guess I could just make it a Mech Bay sort of thing. Add in a hangar for the background.
