Description
(2022) 5 1/2" x 10 1/2" Pencil, ink and acrylics on paper.
The geomantic figure carcer. Carcer is Latin for "prison" and is associated with the element of earth and the planet Saturn in Capricorn.
Carcer is a figure of restriction and isolation. This can point to a limitation, but can also be a source of focus and strength, for example energy expended in concentrated productive work. In a chart this figure represents solidity, restriction, binding and even imprisonment. It always points towards a delay. It is mostly problematic, but positive for questions that involve the need for stability, security or isolation. Overall carcer is an unfavorable figure.
Card: In contrast to the grasping hands shown for coniunctio, carcer depicts the isolation of someone locked behind bars. The prisoner can only rely on themselves as a resource and instead of a web of interconnection we see the sterile arrangement of individual steel bars.
