Description 2007) 3"x 1 1/4" for the two silver components, 15 1/2" for the overall length of the necklace.

Art Clay Silver (cut, sculpted, fired and patinaed), carmine enamel, silver wire, faceted garnet beads, faceted onyx beads, round carnelian beads, silver beads, Bali silver, silver findings, Fireline

This design was inspired by the elegant ornamentation of Thai dancing costumes. I cut two panels of art clay, carved the greenware before firing and then added enamel to the depressions in the clay before firing a second time.

The enamel was supposed to fire to a bright reddish-orange, but instead burned to a palette of wine-reds, umbers and oranges. I fired according to the instructions, but had similar mishaps with my red glass before, so I may run some trials at slightly lower temps and see what develops.

Instead of giving up on the pendant, I selected stone beads that would subtly accentuate those colors and am now very happy with the result.

I really love the pendant on this - it looks like wolves howling to me and the color of the beads is a great choice! very nice!

Thank you! It's amazing, I never noticed the wolves until folks started to point them out. They were entirely unintentional, but of course I don't mind now that they obviously snuck in!

If you were to say... drop it on accident, would it break like the grey or porcelain clay used in throwing/sculpting classes?

Actually the nice thing is it won't. After firing the binder burns away and what remains is 99.9% pure silver, just metal that is even purer than Sterling silver.

Wow, that's gorgeous! I like how delicate it seems, and how the color in the actual pendant is subtle, so that you see it when you take a second look ^^
