I feel like this could be something that would happen after the final battle with calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild. Zelda would probably start to experiment and explore the extent of her powers, since she had only just awakened them shortly before she had to trap Ganon in Hyrule Castle. This is something she had spent so long and hard to acquire so she might be excited to finally have magic.
