I know I say this a lot, but I really am SUPER pleased with this costume. Not to mention, Muzo's camera is made of magic and awesome! We really wouldn't have asked for a better place to shoot this. The Japanese Church of Christ's courtyard is basically Yuuko's porch!I made this back in January, and there are still a few things I want to tweak with it. But I'm so happy this costume wasn't a total waste!!
This is my favorite version of yuuko and so I was very careful with it. Now I just need to figure out how to wear the monster of a wig without getting a huge headache. Ah well, such is the way of giant head pieces!Location: Nihon Matsuri

The Nihon Matsuri is a yearly event held in Salt Lake City Utah, to celebrate japanese culture.

They may! I know many Japanese communities put that sort of festival on. I know Utah has one, but I don't know about any of the others.

Sure! The main black dress is a matte black stretch satin (Hard to get a hold of). Linning layer (The purple) is the reverse side of a lilac dull satin, and in between is a layer of can can netting to add more body to the fabrics.
The under bodice is all made of canvas for stability. All the white is Satin Peau de soie (A bridal weight Satin) with interfacing underneath for shaping and strength. I think that's about it!

Oh wow, that's a lot of different materials you used. Working with satin is a bit hard to work with, did you have any trouble working with any particular one you used in making Yuuko?

and this Yuuko looks amazing... Loving the train and I'm glad that you kept it the long instead of cutting it down because you were worried it would be too long.
We need to have a Yuuko photoshoot sometime!
