Description
A little speedy for the Speedy du Jour by the DA-Speedpaint group.I refused to do something Sci-fi because the topic (Landing platform) was sort of pushing in that direction and stubborn head that I am...well u know the rest of the story.
Little less than an hour spend on this one. The most of the structure is made in Alchemy (yay
), background and some cleaning up done in photoshop.Mew

This appeals to the idea of steam-punk to me as it is like in the days long since gone, but still the idea of technology along the road not taken. as instead of a real airship loo, a Zeppelin could be put in the place of in this screen and still look good. I think this is nice as the silhouette to the landing base, it is simple yet effective in concept, well done.

This reminds me of a mix between Escaflowne and Howl's Moving Castle, with a touch of Final Fantasy. But at the same time, it's all your own. I love this.

how do you get a paint effect like that on photoshop?

I try to use looser brush strokes and don't cover them all up by blending them away completely. Also try to use some texture brushes here and there. I wouldn't say this is the best example. maybe this helps? [link]

very nice! The one small critique I have is that the ship looks very large next to the buildings and landing pad- is the ship supposed to be in the foreground? Other than that I really like the design of both the ship and the buildings! Nice light too!
