Description A quick Amon portrait from The Legend of Korra.  I love this show, the ambiance, the characters, everything. I'm also addicted to the music www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE-f9o… www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpIOTT…

LEGEND OF KORRA SPOILERS.

To be honest, I sympathize with the Equalists; their cause made sense and something needed to be done to bring their plight to attention. Okay, maybe they could have at least attempted to be less radical, but nevertheless Republic City's government was quite unfair. For example, their council of five are ALL benders, not a single non-bender is represented, which is why they were so keen on Tarrlock's law to make it illegal to even be associated with the Equalist party, just dividing Republic City and the classes further.

I have to say I love the revolutionary concepts in Korra and the way Republic City's struggle mimics other revolutions in real history. For example, the need for an icon? A savior like Amon? Vladimir Lenin played such a role in Russia's 1917 revolution. The outlawing of even being associated with Equalists? I cannot name how many tyrannical governments have outlawed a political party; one that comes to mind is Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi's monarchy in pre-revolutionary Iran outlawing Iran's Tudeh, or communist, party. Tarrlock considering the non-benders protesting passively their power being cut “armed and dangerous” and arresting them? Bashar Al-Assad's Syria is currently arresting, killing, and torturing, men, women, and even children who protest his regime and then saying they are “foreign sponsored terrorists” to excuse such actions or making other bull up to keep his seat in power.

They did not stop making Korra, actually. The first season just ended and new episodes will come out in I think a couple of months in the U.S. I am not sure when they will reach where you live, though.

This is awesome! He looks amazing!

And I agree completely; the reason why I find the plot of Legend of Korra so compelling is that you can understand both sides, and can both agree and disagree with the actions taken by the Equalists and the benders alike. I love Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I keep missing those characters, but I like the plot of Korra better. It's deeper, and it makes you think more, because it isn't black and white, and it isn't telling you up front exactly what the right thing to do is. It's more human, and more realistic.

Love it! Pencil shaded fanarts are my favorite. You did such a wonderful job with contrast. I always get nagged at for not making my darks dark enough and my lights light enough. But this is perfect. You definitely captured that creepy look in his eye too.

As for Amon running away, I figured that he realized that everything he worked for fell apart and there was no regaining it. He cried because he knew death was the only thing left? There's so many interesting theories out there.

Wow, thank you! You yourself have some pretty awesome pencil works! I especially like your Bellatrix!I find that in real life traditional artwork looks better and has a good contrast, but, especially with charcoal and graphite, when it is scanned or photo-uploaded into the computer, it appears faded and the contrast looks different, so, to be honest, I often tweak the brightness/ contrast a tad in gimp (free photo-editing software that is easy to download)to make it look more like it does in reality, and it may work for you too, but I looked at your gallery and everything looks great to me!

Oh, and I agree with you about the Equalist thing. I was honestly expecting them to go into more detail and develop a more in-depth story line with it. Because the Equalists weren't all wrong, you're right.

Thank you! It actually didn't take too terribly long, I had a reference and was on an Amon kick. I also had the urge to rub charcoal everywhere.

Awesome drawing, and I kind of agree with what you're saying. I really wish they had been able to go more in-depth into the whole equalist movement. This series has made me as interested in the history and setting as it has in the characters and storylines. I love history also, so watching all the characters and how their backgrounds and cultures influence them are really fascinating to me. And I also love how many events in the show are parallel to real events that have happened.

WARNING: I rant too. Oh, and spoilers.

I was actually okay with how Amon's backstory has happened. If Amon had been who he said he was, it would have been okay with me, but I feel like that would make his quest more of a plot of revenge than a genuine movement. But then again, it kind of was a revenge plot anyway, but it was against his father, who wanted Amon to be the ruthless all-powerful and oppressive bender that Amon would wind up wanting to destroy. Of course, that makes Amon pretty much a contradiction of himself, being a bender that hates bending. And a lot of people didn't like that. But look at it this way: Zuko was the prince of the Fire Nation and he hated what his family and nation stood for, so he sought to bring it down and start it over. Amon was the same way. He believed he was doing the right thing. Plus, there was a considerable amount of time between when he ran away from home and when he became "Amon". Who knows what happened to him during that time? He probably saw benders oppressing non-benders in the streets, and that coupled with his past probably drove him to do the things he did.

(And honestly, I'm just glad he didn't turn out to be Aang's son or somebody from all the thoeries. I wanted to be surprised, and I was!)

But anyway, he's still the best villain in a t.v. show (maybe ever?), and although I would have liked to have seen more about the characters, groups, and history, I was okay with everything that happened. Although, I don't think he would have just given up on the equalists either. He might have planned to go into hiding for a while, but I think he would have come back or done something. I'm not sure the equalists would have taken him back as their leader or anything, but Amon would've done *something*. If not for Tarrlok, that is. I hated him, felt bad for him, then hated him again. Oh well. But the point is, he truly believed in his cause, and it wasn't lust for power that drove him as it drove his father or even Ozai.

Okay, I'll stop now. I think I've taken up enough space here. Love the drawing, aaand...yeah.

The Legend of Korra is a very interesting tv-show. As I stoped watching cartoons so long time ago, I've started following adventures of the new Avatar. Actually, it's like an anime, but still cartoon. Nevermind. Ghrrr. What I'm going to say is that I like your drawing and it seems like it's a screenshot from TV. Nice effect.
