I decided to color this little comic in. Anyway, just copy pasting from my WIP post:

Zoe's family has always held the position of being a Wind Sage and being born with magical talents, she follows in their footsteps. She was made a senior apprentice to the current Wind Sage, Master Gust at a rather young age. She has always been a bit reserved when it came to her feelings but in her position she felt like she ought to focus on her duties more than herself, and sometimes things hit her badly all at once but she felt like she couldn't show it, being a senior apprentice and all. She's actually not as good at pretending as she thinks - Master Gust recognizes it but is unsure himself how to deal with it and too busy in any case to be of true help.
Vaati is the only person with whom Zoe feels like she could be just another Minish and not a senior apprentice, but even she doesn't want to burden him with her struggles. Vaati however is more persistent and eventually she comes to admit her frustrations with him. Before this, Vaati had told her about his own struggles with Master Ezlo's teaching, something I'm still working on.
