Description NOT TO SCALE. I warned you. I don't want to see anyone messaging me with a nag about the sizes of these weapons. I did not make this to scale. Don't bug me about it. PLEASE. I might do that later.

I just felt the need to redesign the weapons of my novel's characters and give them some bloody finesse at last.

Massive kudos and thanks to for his help on this project. He's far better than I am at scrutinizing, pointing out things and inducing a level 5 brainstorm in me.

Cassie, being the sensible young lady that she is (often the sole source of reason in the party and thus frequently overruled) with a steady hand and sharp eye, wouldn't be caught dead aiming at something with anything less than her custom bow. The Artemis is a high-quality recurve bow crafted from Greek pine and Obsuran ash wood, it is powerful and accurate bow, featuring a built-in enchantment that increases the steadiness of arm to allow better aiming. It's firing power is great enough to tear off limbs if pulled back fully. Reinforced gloves are recommended to guard against the fletching. Hers come with an enchantment to enhance tension strength for more comfortable draw of the cord.

A light warhammer isn't something most heavy-duty, fast casters will reach for, but Guy was raised by a Minotaur, so he's excused. In fact, his Crescendo is one of the smallest and lightest hammers Minotaurs make...considering their size. Made from highly conductive silverwood oak, it'll channel magic like stink and crack a skull or two in, while you're at it. Enchanted to be lighter than it looks and yet still hit harder than you'd think. Illusionists will never really be the same after the resident loudmouth of this team... unless some other illusionist decides to walk into battle carrying a battle-axe.

Few swords could ever be a match to the Devastator in quality--but then again, few would ever want to do that. With a name far too impressive for its appearance (both of which can be blamed on typical Elven logic) it's not really what Axel had in mind when he thought he needed a sword that wasn't going to break every time he tried to fight a slightly bigger demon. The good news is, it's never going to break whenever he decides to charge a bit of Dark magic through it, or when he locks blades with some emissary from the underworld. The bad news is, it has a habit of 'eating' its wielders. So far it hasn't tried to even nip at Axel but things could change if he lets it think he's getting soft. It's a pretty 'evil' sword, but then again when you get your raw materials from broken demonic weaponry, what else can you expect to forge? Those Elves never learn...

Whips are an unconventional method of combat even by Obscura's standards, but funnily enough nobody really mentions that when Erin cracks her Empress. Made of various dragon hides woven around a core of more flexible core, it is able to carry a considerable charge of magic, resulting in a devastating touch-strike. Carrying an enchantment for multi-element charge, it's a good option to keep the rabble at bay when you're busy conjuring up the next bit of painful magic on the enemy--or cutting up someone's throat with a bit of precision swinging. For such a gaudy appearance, this whip has such brunt it makes Dr. Jones proud.

If intellectuals wrestle problems with their minds, what do you usually make of an intellectual who can wrestle down an ogre while explaining the trigonometry of a shot's trajectory to you? It takes quite a bit more than brawn to fight hand-to-hand in Obscura, but combat gloves like Ant's Gladiators are a bit of an old sight in the hands of mercenaries the world over. Few can even afford gloves of this quality but the fact that they make most people cringe at the very thought of taking a hit from them is usually pay off enough for your buck. Ant keeps his enchanted with endurance and strength wards--effectively making a shield out of his arms.

Stealth hitters are prized in Obscura; it takes talent to sneak up on beings who can just detect the presence of magic like people detect someone's garlic breath in an elevator. But all the stealth in the world wouldn't save Jessie without her Northern Stars, a pair of short swords built to her specifications alone--and with plans that were then whisked away to secrecy. Enchanted to keep them sharp till Kingdom Come and to silence the sound of their swing, they're the perfect tools for a hit-and-run expert and thief--like Jessie.

Wow, writing all that cheese was about as cathartic as it was tiring.

The empress could also be used to painfully flay a persons flesh from bone. Torture your enemies to death.

Awesomeness! @.@ I love the Devastator, reminds me of Prince Nuada's sword, and the Northern Stars look pretty but vicious.

Well drawn and not over embellished. Functional while still beautiful.

That was my original goal. Of course there's still room for improvements and corrections, but I'll get to that. Thanks!

BARTUG: Maybe we can hire her to do a picture of all our weapons, you know for uh, inventory purposes.
TENGAI: Well I reckon she would need three pictures to illustrate what I carry on me out of neccessity...and at least five to depict all this junk you've accumulated over the years.
B: Hey junkhead! Most of these weapons happen to be my family heirlooms! treat them with due respect!
T: What family half-orc? Didn't you behead the orc that sired you?
B: Damn right I did! And then I killed all his pitiful tribe! The weapons were theirs and they all were his relatives one way or another, that's the way it is in the Badlands and that's why I killed' em all. So you see? Family-fucking-heirlooms!
T: *sigh*

Phoebe: I don't know, do you guys even think you can afford me? You WILL be entering the realms of mindfuck in dealing with me anyway.

Bartug: Oh we can afford you all right, thing is we always have some other fucking pressing business to attend to...and about the "mindfuck@ thing...honey ever since I met him *points at Tengai* i tend to think that sanity is overrated...helps keep things into perspective.

As stated before, your art is awesome as always, but to satisfy my ego, I'd like to at least be mentioned as I did help at least a little with some of this, no? ^^

But ego aside, your art never stops to amaze me, even at 100% size the image is clear and the lines are fine.
You are even able to color metal in such a way that it looks metal'y, this is something a lot of artists have problem with, although the multiple 'glare points' on the flat side -like on the Devastator- makes it seem like the edge and side that should be flat and straight have some imperfections to it.

Also, one thing I did not notice 'til now, you shortened the handle for the Devastator again, didn't you? ^^

ElvenAngel In reply to alchemistFox [2011-07-27 10:58:11 +0000 UTC]

O_o Wha... no, I didn't. At least, I don't think I did, I didn't deviate from the example you gave me... *pause* ...unless the handle's proportions got shafted while I was adjusting everything else. *facepalm*

Anyway you're absolutely right. D: I totally forgot to credit you. I'll rectify that rait nao.

I do really love the designs on these. They are elegant, but they aren't over-the-top in terms of designs. They all look great, but could deliver some nice pain as well. And I really like all the touches, like the different arrows for Artemis and the spiral design on the Crescendo.

^_^ Thanks! I did my best to make them look practical but also a little bit fancy, something that its owner prizes and loves using. :3

I bow before you. I sincerely wish I could do the same. You are far superior to weapon design and overall detail.

These are all very good. And they're all color-coded for convenience!

ElvenAngel In reply to DoomedTick [2011-07-26 00:32:07 +0000 UTC]

Color coded? Not really. I just don't see why a good weapon can't be a little colorful and fancy. If you use something a lot and intimately, you want it to look good. ^_^
