"Are you all right, Four?""Are you human, Tris? Being up this high..." He gulps for air. "It doesn't scare you at all?"
I look over my shoulder at the ground. If I fall now, I will die. But I don't think I will fall.
A gust of air presses against my left side, throwing my body weight to the right. I gasp and cling to the rungs, my balance shifting. Four's cold hand clamps around one of my hips, one of his fingers finding a strip of bare skin just under the hem of my T-shirt. He squeezes, steading me and pushing me gently to the left, restoring my balance. Now I can't breathe. I pause, staring at my hands, my mouth dry. I feel the ghost of where his hand was, his fingers long and narrow.
"You okay?" he asks quietly.
"Yes," I say, my voice strained.β
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? this is not Harry Potter? Impossible.

I did like Insurgent more than Divergent though. I thought the first one was just too predictable which really upset me when I finished it. So Divergent and Insurgent are just one giant book in my headΒ where Divergent is just all the exposition lol

I think, while Divergent was as it should be, a little more naive but also sweet like the beginning of any great love story,Β Insurgent was more mature, it made as see them going through so much stuff and learning to trust each other and know each with a love more deep.

Just because the story involves naivety, sweetness, and romance, doesn't mean it should be painstakingly predictable to the point of dullness. Divergent is much more than a love story, so to credit it at that level is misguided. There's a bigger arch at play than what develops between Tris and Four, much like in the Hunger Games. I guess I was expecting more suspenseful twists and turns in the first book to really excite me and pull me into the series.Instead, Insurgent provided more of those hooks. I really had to push myself into reading the second book after the first one disappointed me so much. Then, I had to put up with Tris and Four's constant bickering in Insurgent which greatly annoyed me, taking away from the overall enjoyment of the story. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the movie adaptations. There's plenty of room for the films to tweak the stories little imperfections. Β Β
