Description Hi, Hope This Is Some Help. Sorry There Is Not More Pics As I Was So Busy. I Did This Whole Cake In About 40 Hours In between My Other Three Jobs & Very Little Sleep.
If It Wasn't For That Last Minute I'd Get Nothing Done...
The Only Thing I Made Early Was The Base For The Roses As They Have To Be Totally Dry...
I Made The Base Layers For The Simpsons With Polymer Clay Then Bulked Them Out With Foil Then A Skin Layer Of Clay Before Dressing Them. The Yellow Is Ozzle 'Fluoro' Polymer Clay Mixed With Normal Yellow To Get That Bright Simpsons Colour.
You Can See That The Skin Tone Layers Have Mooned A Lot. Because They Were Cooked At About 130c For Strength Where As The Final Layer Was Only Cooked At 95-99c To Avoid The Mooning. I Use A Glass Bowl Type Turbo Oven & Oven Thermometer For Accuracy & Only Cook 10 Minutes Per Layer Keeping Them Under 10mm Thick.
I Also Bought Liquid Ozzle Which Came In Handy For Gluing Pieces Together That Weren't Blended Like Homer's Hair & Marg's Tiara. Also I Broke Marg's Arm Because I Had Her Resting On It While The Dress Was Cooking & The Weight Snapped It While Soft, But Re-baking It With Liquid Ozzle As Glue Made An Invisible Repair.
I Painted The Eyes & Lashes With Acrylic Paint & Sculpey Gloss For Homer's Suit Collar & Shoes.
Marg & Homer's Flowers Are Silk.
The Large Roses Are Made From Sugar Modelling Paste On Florist Wire, I Make The Petals By Hand, Rolling & Cutting A Large Length Up In Required Size Pieces. Then Shaping The Balls By Hand Into Petals With Copha (vegetable Fat) On My Hands. Lighten Each Layer By Mixing In More White Paste.
My Roses Usually Have A Centre Petal, Then Two Layers Of Three, Then A Final Layer Of Five Petals. Leaving Some Smaller For Buds...
The Leaves Are Cut With Four Different Size Ivy Cutters Then Textured With A Leaf Veiner. The Wire Is Looped So It Doesn't Pull Out. I Wired The Whole Lot Together On A Green Plastic Covered Coat-Hanger For Support Starting At The Top & Covering With Florist Tape As I Went. The Leaves Are I Taped Five Together Before Adding To Spray As In A Real Rose & The Roses Had A Green Calyx Added When I Made The Leaves...
