I've found using premium skins on Deviantart isn't very user-friendly, especially for people making their first purchase.
There's a small section on how to on the DA support page but I found it lacking information about purchased profile skins so I've put this guide together!
DEAR DA TEAM... please update this so it's easier for people:
- Have purchased skins be uploaded and stored automatically when you go to select a profile skin, instead of having to download file > extract > reupload same file yourself
- Have skins be preview-able, it's hard to know how something will look on your profile before purchasing it and it's annoying having to manually resize it to get it looking good
And if anyone's interested, here's some of the profile skins I've uploaded (and tested/resized myself):
