This is really saddening. I'm glad I saw this, and I hope that it raises awareness for the Darfur cause. It is terrible and devastating that people are suffering before our eyes and that we could help them if given the chance, but we don't and we overlook the conflict as something that THEY are doing wrong, as if they are our enemies. Anyhow, wonderful composition!

i do hope that this might, indeed, serve to increase awareness of the plight of the people of darfur. . . and perhaps beyond. a beautifully rendered, meaningful work. well done.

It is a sad shame that this atrocity continues.

Thank you for trying to inform people about this crisis. So many are ignorant about it, and are instead obsessed with issues that do not matter. Your work is amazing as well.

Well, looking back at all the work and thought that went into this wonderful work, it has developed into a great painting in graphite medium. I watched along as you created the several depths of field which I see now not only frame the figure, but which are deftly manipulated to push the figure into the frontal plane. In fact, the hands come out beyond that plane and appear three-dimensional. The shading and sensitive lighting are quite extraordinary, especially in view of the fact that this is a graphite drawing where textural surface values are rarely distinguished as well as they were here.
This piece works on any number of levels and I hope that it is recognized as a focal point for those still suffering in Darfur.

It's done! This one has been a real labour of love, hasn't it? But it's turned out wonderfully. And an important message attached, that more people need to be aware of.

This truly is a masterpiece! The details are amazing, the expression touching and most important of all are your intentions. People must know what is going on in the Sudan to start taking action.
Thank you for creating this precious drawing!
