Description She was a mighty ship
A schooner, rugged clipper.
Blemished, scarred and tarnished
Years worn into the skin of the hull.
Stories and battles
Confrontations and embraces
She was an passionate, reserved ship.
Carrying passengers from grocery stores
To vast adventures of sands, blizzards and thieves
Warmth of sun-baked decks
Leeching into the skin of those she carried
To the dampening feeling as riders sank into the bilge of defeat
Rising from the slimy, rotten pits
Back onto the ocean of freedom
She'd grant you passage to the exotic
If you'd rub a little elbow grease as fare.
But now her bones are brittle
Moored to a gurney
Now her rudder splintered
Held in intravenously
Barnacles no more a decoration
But eating into her body and soul
Growing ferocious like the beasts in a zoo
But her children, the carpenters,
Cannot hold her close in protection.
Sometimes another layer of glue won't fix the leak
Sometimes dry dock is two yards below low tide.
