Description
It was Halloween once again, and all the nations were busy getting ready to go to the annual all-night bash.

Everyone, that is, except Russia.

He preferred to change into his costume after he got to the party, so he took a nice stroll, taking in the fall scenery. Contrary to popular belief, not everywhere in his land was covered in snow. The leaves from the birch trees were lovely shades of yellow and orange, covering the grass and making the ground look like a vast, warm fire. The early evening sky exploded in pink, blue, and purple, complemented by a piercing red sun. It was sights like these that sometimes made the tall man wish it could be autumn all year long.

As he was pondering about what he would do once he got to the party, he noticed something sitting on the side of the road. It was a pumpkin, and a perfectly nice looking one at that. Curious, Russia picked it up and examined it. There were no bruises or anything. It might’ve been a little small and misshapen, but other than that, nothing seemed wrong with it. He was about to put it down when he could’ve sworn he heard...crying.

“Huh?”

Not seeing anyone else around, he placed his ear on the pumpkin, and sure enough, that’s where the crying was coming from.

“Please don’t put me down, mistewr,” it cried. Russia was startled, but didn’t put it down.

“Why are you so sad, little one?”

“I always wanted to be a big and scawry Halloween pumpkin, but I was cut off of my vine too soon. Nobody wanted me, so they left me out hewre...”

“Aww...you know, I used to be tiny just like you, but look at me now! I am large and powerful! Can crush any enemy! If I can be big, so can you!”

“But I can’t gwrow anymowre, mistewr! It’s too late fowr me! I’ll mowre likely wrot than be like you!”

The little pumpkin cried harder than ever, and Russia thought the situation over.

“Hmm...I think I have an idea! I’m going to take you home with me, little one. I’ll make you big!”

“W-Wreally? How?”

“You’ll see~”

And with that, Russia carried the little pumpkin back to his house. When he got there, he went to work and carved a quick face on it.

“Am I big yet?”

“Not yet~”

He then got some cloth, glue, construction paper, and scissors. When he was finally finished, he beamed at the little pumpkin with pride.

“Okay, you’re big now~”

“I am? I don’t feel that diffewrent...”

He went to the bathroom and came back with a small mirror. In the reflection was what looked like a pumpkin version of Russia (complete with scarf), with smaller construction paper Baltic pumpkins underneath.

“Wow! I am big! I’m just like you now!”

“Da~”

The big Russia pumpkin and the little Baltic pumpkins were placed on the front step, and the pumpkin felt very happy and fulfilled that night because it was so big and scary that it frightened everyone away from its only friend’s house.
